Hi guys, just looking for opinions, as benchies using 7800GT's vs the 8800 are hard to come by.

I game at 1920x1200, other settings as needed to be playable, and the upgrade budget is thin this year.

Like the title suggests, how would you 8800 owners rate my current SLI against a single 8800 320?

This may be my one hope for an upgrade this year, so if you have time, please chime in.

Thanks in advance....grey

My 640MB 8800GTS totally out performs the 7800GT SLI I upgraded from. My benchmark scores didn't go up by any amazing amount, simply because of my CPU limitions. At that resolution you might want to spend the extra $50 for the 640MB card though as the higher resolutions is where the extra memory really comes in handy.

Thanks for the reply. But even though your benchies didn't go up much, IQ and FSAA and all are definetly worth it?

Totally worth it, the IQ of the 8800's absolutely blows the 7800's out of the water as well as actual game performance. I can run Oblivion @ 1600x1200 4xAA 16xAF with all settings maxed out and I rarely drop below 40fps and never below 30fps....my 7800GT's couldn't come close to that.

That's what I was hoping to hear! Great, I may just hold off til I can snag the 640 version, sounds very worth it.

Thanks for the replies jcrox!

It looks to me like the 8800 is better.

That's an awesome tool, never saw it before, Thanks! I figured the 8800 320 mb would out run my cards, my concern was would it really be worth the upgrade atm. Sure beginning to look that way. thanks man.

The 8800GTS should be better even if by a small margin. maybe that 320MB wont help much in high resolutions , but still its a great DX10 card for the price.

This is killin...KILLING me! I need another hdd, a higher rated psu, ram LOL> I have to hold out for the 8800. :p

I knew the 320 was the budget version, I just didn't know how it stacked against my cards. That could be a great budget SLI solution for DX10 though, especially in a couple of months if prices creep down.

Food for thought for me. Thanks guys.
