View Full Version : glxgears
So, I'd like to know what framerates you are getting from glxgears.
Little about my system:
Abit KT7A, AMD Thunderbird 1200MHz,
512M SDRAM and a
Gainward GeForce4 Ti 4200 with 128M of memory, and I'm getting around 3600 fps.
Tell me if thats a good framerate.. :(

On default size 2636 fps, when full screen around 262, Running a P4 1.6@2.13 with 768megs ddr pc2100 Geforce3 non ti 64megs,
Abit SA7.
:)
Your framerate is better than mine, so you're not doing too bad. :D
MSI GF4 Ti4200, 128MB, so it's the same chip, just a different mfr.
glxgears gives ~2500 fps. But I think that's because I'm running in 24-bit color mode, at a fairly large res (1280x1024), plus I'm using driver 3123 (4191 does 3D stuff a good bit faster). This is at the default window size.
It could very well be because I'm also running a distributed computing client in the background, so it can't have all the CPU -- it gets ~80% or so. CPU is an Athlon XP 1800.
Note that glxgears doesn't test your video card as much as it tests stuff like CPU, mem bandwidth, pixel fill rate, etc. It's just too simple as far as the 3D features go to test anything too well. ;)
my computer :
- A7N8X Deluxe
- 2x256Mo DDR Corsair PC2700
- MSI Geforce4 Ti4200 64Mo AGP8X
- Atlhon XP 1800+
1600x1200 with 24bit color mode. glxgears gives ~ 6669 fps with kernel compilation in the background.
I use the 4191 from nvidia. :)

Eh, nice? :D
good lord!
geforce2 MX 32mb
Athlon TBird 1.0ghz
Mandrake 9.0
920 at default size :(
time for some new hardware eh?
*edit: I installed the 28xx drivers on Debian Woody, compiled a 2.4.18 kernel and got 1660fps on glxgears!!! Wow, what a difference that made!
I use slackware 8.1 with last driver from nvidia and I take this result with glxgears. It's very strange !!!
I don't know if it's a bug or not because all my friends never see that.
Well, can someone tell me ?
ps: excuse me for my english but i'm french and i don't speak english very well...

Thanks for everyone. Just wanted to know :)

Hi,
When I run glxgears on my system my frame rate is nowhere near what some of you guys are getting and I don't understand why. Any ideas?? Here is the output from glxgears running at default window size :

My gfx card is a GeForce Ti 200 (64MB) standard (ie no o/c)
BTW When I run Quake 2 and time map demo1.dm2 with FSAA=Quincunx and VBLANK=0 I get 71fps with 3123 drivers and 77fps with 4349 when running at 1024x768
