have you tried reinstalling your graphics drivers or updating them?

On the other hand, I suggest you just shoot the integrated graphics chip and get a real video card:D

The only way you´ll get smooth gameplay (higher framerate) is when you buy a proper graphics card. I mean seriously, why do you think people actually buy Nvidia or AMD graphic cards if Intel IGPs were sooo incredible good? It´s quite simple, Intel graphics "cards" suck and are outperformed by even the low-end products from Nvidia and AMD ($50-80 price range).

Also, keep in mind that games advance visually as years pass by, and that means its impossible that for instance Age of Empires 3 is performing as good as Age of Empire 1, especially if you use an Intel graphics card. Get your PC to a computer store, and tell them to upgrade your graphics card. Depending on what slot you have available (PCI, AGP, PCIe), you will be able to upgrade to a much faster graphics card than the one you have right now.

In that case you need to reformat your system, you probably have tons of viruses or spyware that slow your system down. If you dont know how to do that let a professional do it for a few $$.

Spybot and Adaware. Get them both from here:

First of all, make sure you haven't changed any graphics settings in your games (like the display resolution or the texture quality or anything like that) by accident.

Its probably a good idea to update your driver anyway though.

If you're using Windows XP, here is the driver you need:

Just download it and run it.

If you arent using Windows XP, pick your operating system from this list and download the driver:

For anti-spyware software, get Ad Aware SE Personal (its free):

For anti-virus, get AVG Free Edition:

If you have any norton internet security, norton anti-virus or Mcafee anti-virus software installed on your system (I'm guessing you're using a Dell, HP or Compaq of some kind) go to the control panel and uninstall it using the Add & Remove programs wizard. AVG works better and won't kill your system performance like those others.

If you do all that and your games still run far worse than they used to, I'd suggest taking it to a computer shop and having them reinstall windows (and back up your data if necessary). If they STILL don't work right, then most likely you're just doing something differently or you're just noticing the poor performance now. An Intel 845 graphics chip is probably about the slowest chip those games will run on... in fact I'm surprised that AOE3 runs on it at all.

What are the rest of your system specs? Like, computer brand, CPU, RAM, hard drive, etc...
