The nvidia driver says no nvidia card is installed and it can't /dev/nvidiactl open it and i've confirmed that it doesn't exist. Any reason why it wouldn't be created.
I've confirmed that nvidia was loaded, I did not installed with linux compatability as I have no need for it.

Did you reboot after installing the driver? I had a problem with the driver not creating /dev/nvidiactl till after I rebooted and loaded the module via /boot/loader.conf

The thing just started to work. So I guess the problem was entirely on my end, sorry for wasting time.
