right, so, as I have pointed out before, the UN appointed Lybia to chair the human rights body and Iraq to head the weapons inspections. What were they thinking? what is their major malfunction?!?!

What good is the UN anymore? It has become more useless than anything. I have never liked the UN one bit, and I would be glad if my country left this useless international body of appeasers. What do you guys think of the UN's actions of electing these two rogue nations to head chair these commissions?

this isn't about war, it is about the UN's stupidity. Now, tell me... what do you think of their electing these two rogue nations to chair these commissions?

we should have left the UN a long time ago, what a waste of taxpayer $$$

Same thing with the IMF, it's 99% our money to begin with, not any "international" deal...

exactly, we should tell them to get out and find a new home in France or something. Some fine real estate they are taking up with their useless organization;)

I spose when it comes to money no us or Ny native minds the billions of dollars coming into the us coffers from just having the un hq based in ny ?

as for the IMF and world bank... a lot of power weilded over what the countries getting the grants can do... in fact single handedly the IMF and world bank have destroyed the hopes of many nations with their utter lack of understanding of international cultures and policies... :)

the un is only as good as the sum of its parts... thats the way it was designed... with one of its major parts always whingeing about things not going its way and so on and so forth... its no wonder doubts are raised as to its validity...

now.. I will go along with the iraq thing... but whats wrong with libya ? terrorist nation ? bs I say...

if that was the case based on lockerbie and other incidents the us is no better based on the oklahoma city bombings et al...

when it comes to definitions and stuff... you can't just paint something black and say it is so... its not pragmatic...

for u americans it's all about dollars.......so think about this, if u stop honoring international treaties, so will others. and how you plan to get all the money invested in foreign countries (i think the popular term lately is outsourcing) if you don't honor what you signed.

you are either part of the world or not......AND most of YOURS nice life style and all those $$$ you mentioning is comnig from YOUR companies SELLING to the rest of the world......you live on OUR back, not the opposite.

it wasn't indonsian companies that used childernd slaves there to make sport shoes........it was NIKE.........

The international community would really appreciate it if the US just does that.

On the one hand the sheepeople blast the US for being too involved, then turn right around and blast it for not being involved. The only constant is baaashing which doesn't take much of a brain to do. :bleh: And of course its also about sponging off Americans.

Why should Russia and France even get a vote in the UN? France went to war in the Ivory Coast without asking the UN and Russia went into Croatia, Afghan and more without asking so they should be sent to "timeout" in the corner for 5 years and just shut the HELL up. Why should anyone get a say in matters if they don't play by the rules to start with.

To solve ALL of the world’s problems only one simple thing needs to be done.

All the cars in the USA need to burn pure alcohol. Alcohol puts out no pollution so that would stop ALL of the auto related emission problems in USA. The farmers in the USA would have a good cash crop – grain. The Farmers in South America would have a better cash crop to grow than coco – sugar for the alcohol. This would slow the drug problems and get money into those countries. The Middle Eastern countries would quickly run out of cash and the funding of most terrorist would end. Not to mention most of them would starve because our grain would run our cars and they can’t live on crude oil 

Why would that be? We have supported the UN with troops and equipmenty when ever asked and have gotten permission for Afghanastan and the Golf War.

MASS GRAVES! I'll keep throwing that in your face until you stop bashing a country you've never even visited. Most of what you know about the US came from Communist controld shools.

and most of your rhetoric seems to come from government controlled propaganda...

the eastern bloc = a direct result of the cold war... of which the us was a very active proponent...

i had friends going for last year of high school to US, student exchange, they all came back laughing at ur education system.....none of them ever opened books during that year.

I never said it was to blame... there were 2 sides actively engaged in a confrontation w/o arms so to speak... neither is completely to blame nor is either of them blameless...

it obviously can't be that easy, or else why would we invest in electricity and hydrogen as alternate fuels instead?

"right, so, as I have pointed out before, the UN appointed Lybia to chair the human rights body and Iraq to head the weapons inspections. What were they thinking? what is their major malfunction?!?!"

UN = ineffective political economic sanctioning body

the UN knew they dont have the balls to enforce any resolutions they approve, so they used committee chair seats as a limp wristed way of "bribing/patronizing" the two terrorist states into even limited participation in the farce that meaningful relations could exist with them.

Iraqi citizens are dying everyday due to unenforced U.N. sanctions. the numbers are reported as high as 5000 a month due to starvation. Saddam has been spending the Iraqi gnp in order to enhance his personal weapons collection while the average citizen goes without food, medicine, modern sanitary convienance.

saddam has killed more people than Adolf Hittler but Saddam's wave of cruelty is neatly compartmentalized into Iraq's borders.
maybe that makes it easier for countries like France to ignore.

they let Japan run amok too, didn't they?Well.. they did denounce the Japanese invasion of China.

Then Japan just walked out of the League of Nations, and that was that.
