View Full Version : Dead PSU?

So I've tried my new OCZ 700W GXS SLi certified psu 3 times on this sytem...no luck. The first time was because i didnt have the atx 12v connector in. the pc powered, big blue led fan on the psu worked, but no display (assuming its the 12v connector's fault). the second and 3rd time, all connectors were right, and my red mobo light goes on, but the pc wont power up. i have a feeling it was DOA but im not sure.

don't REALLY need a 700W psu for this system, but i bought it to be future-proof for when i get an 8800gts. the gts can run on 400w but im not sure if i should push it? or would it be fine?

thanks. its just been a big hassle cuz i hate switching out power supplies

400W is really pushing it for a GTS, but you can try it. But first sign of instability and I would shut it off right away.

If you bought it at a store maybe they have a PSU tester you can borrow or you can pick one up at a computer store. Antec sells one and I have seen those at CC.
