View Full Version : New Beta Drivers in a week
NEWS FLASH!!!!!! Nvidia just threw their hands up in the air and said they can't do it, making forceware drivers work in Vista, especially 64bit is just too hard a task to achieve. They said the sooner Vista dies and goes away the better off they will be because they will be let of the hook. They also said that if Vista persists and lives on then they don't know what the phuck they will do. (nana2)

hopefully, this delay of not releasing anything means nvidia are hard at work on some drivers, putting 110% of their efforts into some decent vista drivers. what do you think? their ever hard at work or taking a coffee break and then passed out in a pool of vomit from late night partying or something....
i want drivers, winge moan, cry, etc. :P

Oh the R600, man ATI is missing the boat and their drivers are not much better. I installed a HIs 1650XT this past week on a Vista 32 bit machine and well, lets just say they have their share of issues. AMD better get their act together and fast cuase Nvidia is not about to let them take the top spot that easy.
All I want is a driver that does not give me massive vertical screen corruption when my game res and desktop res do mot match and I try and ALT-TAB

The problem is with Vista, not Nvidia and not ATI.
Well, if Nvidia sticks to their once a month goal we should see something here soon. *crosses fingers*
I shouldn't complain though, the only game issue atm is with FEAR slowdowns on occasion.

Obviously I might be talking totally out of turn, but is there any advantage to trying our "fix" from the S.T.A.L.K.E.R thread?

In a big way.:) I thanked you and ltobias for the help there, I haven't had one single crash since applying that, after several hours of game play.
Thank you again. :D

Sorry, I wasn't fishing or anything, I meant in FEAR :) It doesn't make any different to FEAR performance? Perhaps it is a good idea we could do a "Games it fixes" thread so people could definitively see what's what.

Maybe the next one is a WHQL one, then a beta one in the next month, then a WHQL in the other month, and so on.......

Oh np. Not a bad idea. I'll try it in FEAR here shortly.
EDIT: In the "Urban Decay" area, theres a spot where my fps always dipped to the low teens or single digits while in Vista. After applying the fix I'm maintaining 35fps or above at the same settings. :)
It's a winner for sure. I think the small hitching, and other minor glitches will be sorted within the next couple of driver releases.
Thanks for the follow-up Greeno, tis much appreciated.
Thread title should be changed to "New beta drivers in a year = 08" (nana2)

maybe ati sent a hitman in to take them out? then replace them with evil clones that'll create even worse drivers? or would that be too unrealistic?

Ha I think they will be ok in terms of that. It would be nice to have some new drivers, but I imagine their developers are spread pretty thin at this point. Not to mention Vista is still buggy in some areas and really needs some more updates or the high priority service pack MS is feverishly working on. As microsoft, it's weird to to think you have such a major product that is so dependent on other companies in order to be successful. So many people I know are just waiting until around summer or fall in order to upgrade to Vista, since drivers for all devices will be available or more mature by then. They spent so much money on developing Vista, and while it's not bad, it really doesn't offer any 'gotta have it' features that would make people switch. Maybe when Crysis comes out, that will be the killer app for gaming enthusiasts. I think I'll wait until then!

I just wish I could use SLI with my 7950GX2. That still won't work for me.
