As mentioned in the Vsync thread and on the Nvidia developer log. Looks like they are really trying!

They figured out how to force Vsync, we'll see how it goes.

ok, the blog says this:

Vsync and DirectX

I have some good news.

We are working to enable forcing Vsync for DirectX applications under Vista. It will be in our Control Panel. We intend to have it available in the next Beta driver we release on NVIDIA.com, ETA in about 1 more week or so.

really don't care about vsync, i have no issues with that.

they better get other fixes done, especially get some better HDR+AA support for all games

I agree, we need fixes and some more performance, but the point is that we are getting new drivers in the next week or two and hopefully a WHQL set by the end of the month.

I thought HDR+AA is something a game should have and not only supported by a driver

Well I hope they stop the crashing. Because they fixed the CSS fog bug and indeed with al HL2 games. But I went bak to 100.65 because I didn't like the driver crashing.

yeah, it crashes way too often, I hope they fix this in the next beta driver or in the next whql driver

Well, have patience, they are busy with it too, cause I read somewhere (I read to much page and I forgot too much pages where I found it :D ) it's coming in one of their next drivers

These will be heavily tested by me, my tearing in vista is so much worse than XP ever thought about being.

If they give us more stable drivers, I'll be playing alot less XBOX 360

Since I don't use VSync I guess this doesn't pertain to me :o

How do you guys live without Vsync? It literally pains me to game without it. (Headaches and eye strain)

It's strange because the tearing used to bother me a lot, but a few years ago I began running with VSync off because I was tired of the FPS hits, and got totally used to it. To be honest, I do not even notice the tearing.

Very Very Very few people can recognize anything above 75 fps, and realistically....to even recognize anything above 60 would require a certain brightness and you would have to be 100% totally awake suffering from 0 fatigue...it would require some fairly unique circumstances. 1600x1200 @ 85MHz on my 21" monitor is overkill. I don't understand how people can scrutinize lack of AA and AF and "need" super high resolutions and then leave Vsync off to get extra frames per second they can't even visually perceive. For me it's mandatory and this is great news!

I am not sure if you know the downsides of Vsync.

Anything below your monitors refresh rate, and your FPS's get halved.

Monitor with refresh rate of 60Hz, if you cannot reach 60FPS, you get cut down to 30FPS. Can't reach 30FPS? You are cut down to 15FPS. The constant switching back and forth from 15FPS to 30FPS to 60FPS is horrible, and IMO, is worse than the hardly noticeable screen tearing.
