View Full Version : SLI broke my driver

I'm using the latest beta driver from Nvidia. It's supposed to support SLI in the 79xx series. This is Vista Ultimate x64.
This morning I turned on multi GPU mode. Rebooted. Now both cards show up in device manager but they are in a problem state (code 43) and I am stuck in 1024x768. I can't even get into the nvidia control panel to take it back to multi monitor.
This is a fresh install. WTF? Now what am I supposed to do?

Go back to 100.65?

Yeah but that's no solution. There goes SLI support at that point. I might as well try and reload this driver again and leave it turned off. Because it's apparently crap right now.
Furthermore how are you supposed to remove drivers in Vista? There is no add-remove programs that I can find yet to run an uninstall routine.

Add/Remove Programs is under Control Panel > Programs and Features now.
Or if you're using the non-classic control panel, under: Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program.

So has anyone actually used SLI support for the 79xx under Vista here? Because it seems totally worthless on my system for no apparent reason. Turn it on and driver self destructs.
I can't speak for 79s, but it worked on my 78s. Performance was less than a single GPU on 100.65 though, so when I say "worked" both cards were recognized and attempting to perform.

Well OK I guess. Looks like SLI support right now is, even if you are able to enable it in the first place, a disaster.
Ah well. Early adopter and all that. lol

We are all early adopters, so I hope we get a decent performance till the time of SP1
