View Full Version : LeBron James Who? Kobe 65 points last night!
I am still attempting to fathom how the hell he won it in the first place.
After that, I think the voters just felt bad that if he had a better season, he HAD to get the award. It's just so retarded. Jordan never got that treatment.

I really dont see why we are talking bout Nash, but since we are, i think he does deserve the MVP for the fist 2 years he got it because his assists numbers were off the scales and he actually was "the most valuable player" for that team because he made them click at an amazing level. No one else could replace him. And he could shoot that 3 and penetrate when needed.

I don't dispute he is a great player and an all-star. But an MVP? I don't know. If people gave Shawn Marion any respect, Nash's votes would automatically dip a la the whole time Kobe/Shaq played together.
As an aside, I am wondering if the NBA is going to suspend Leandro Barbosa for his "inadvertant" elbow to the face of Garcia this afternoon. While they are being consistent about enforcing rules and all that jazz :afro:

i am not sure what you are saying there. Your saying if people respected Marion, Nash would get less attention. Like Shaq got more attention then Kobe when they played together?

I guess I could have been clearer :)
The argument put forth for why Shaq didn't win more MVP's, even when he was dominating in the regular season, was that Kobe was on his team and Kobe definitely got a lot more attention than Marion ever has.
IMO, Marion is the single most under-appreciated talent on his team. If he got even a little more attention, people would understand his impact on the team. He was an all-star BEFORE Nash ever got back to Phoenix and his numbers have been stellar whether the team stank or not and whether he has played with Nash or not.
People automatically give credit directly to Nash and Nash alone. Nash is good because of the system and the players. Shaq, staying with the example, also excelled in the system but a lot of credit was given to Kobe (deservedly), hence why Shaq, regardless of how dominant he was and how he continued to be the best player on, essentially, the best or one of the best teams for over a decade, has only 1 MVP and had to bust his ass to get it.
Tim Duncan also had no other "competing" interests on his team and thats why he has (deservedly) garnered multiple MVP's.
I will reiterate, I love watching Nash play and he is a VERY good player. If I was drafting, he would be right up there amongst the choices for my backcourt.
Btw, good game on right now :) 'Melo v/s 'Bron, but it's sorta been the AI show so far.
Last coupla minutes looking interesting.
Sorta back on topic, Kobe has 19 points with 9 min left in the SECOND quarter.
Good game by Denver, Lebron had a good game but AI was simply dominant.

o now i c. heh i figured the opposite of what you meant. I dont know if the team underappreciates marion, but i certainly appreciate him, THE MATRIX got some serious scary talent, serious hops, and great skills in the paint and i know for a fact he is one of the most popular players at my school ;) i know that doesnt speak very much but all i am saying is i know he is a huge part of the team and how good he is. I guess simply Nash's assists numbers got him the MVP and his shooting penetration skills.
