hello, i have read the HOWTO 'sticky' and have run the NVchooser.sh script, this reports that i should download and install the NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2960.suse8.1.i386.rpm and the same version 2960 for the kernal, this i can't find on nvidias site and seems at odds with my system in general, surely i should want the latest, which i believe to be 4180 or 4191?, have tried an rpm in the early stages of the install (don't remember which one) but this was before i upgraded the xfree86 to 4.3. I am at the stage now whereby I don't want to do a complete reinstall. . . (the screen went black) heres hoping all this rambling makes sense of some kind.
TIA for any help. . .-t

The 4-digit build number that NVchooser reports is dependent only on the version of NVchooser that you have. You probably got the 2960 release of NVchooser; if you go to http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=linux_display_ia32_1.0-4191 and get that version of NVchooser, it should tell you to get the 4191 RPMs.

SuSE also requires you to run (at least) some scripts to switch between using the nVidia driver and using SuSE's driver. You may want to get the nVidia driver off YOU (that is, YaST Online Update) if you can.

BTW: 4180 is for not-released-yet AMD Opteron CPUs. ;) 4191 is for any personal PC (i.e. non-server).
