I recently became the owner of an old Dell Optiplex G1 400L computer minus the hard drive. I know that the original drive waas less than 1 GB and would like to install a larger one. Does anyone know the largest drive capacity that this computer can handle?

Thanks

i'm not familiar with that model, or any dell models. but how old is it? what OS does it run? what chipset on the motherboard?

those 3 questiosn will help determine the max size of the hdd.

Well it sounds like a really old pc. Probably a 20gig ATA harddrive would work in it. Depending how fast the processor and ram are it might run Windows XP or 2000. It would definitely run some form of Linux, but thats not my area...

You would have to call Dell Spare parts.

There is no listing for any customer kits, the only things available for customer install would be from Spare Parts.

You can ask them what size drives your system accetpts and buy accordingly.
