I didn't know this program existed until yesterday. Not only does it load PDF files instantly but it allows you to fill out forms, and save them as well, which with acrobat you have to pay $70 for that feature and it is still slow as ass. It also doesn't demand you update it all the time, demand you install a yahoo toolbar, and tell you that there is more to acrobat than reader. And best of all, it doesn't scroll so slowly that you need a Geforce 8800 to go to the next page without waiting two minutes.

It's only 2MB too. God I hate adobe. I am betting that one day the former macromedia flash player is going to take 2 hours to load just to play a youtube clip now that adobe has their hands on it.
And they also have a portable USB version floating around somewhere too! Foxit really is great.
Been using it for quite a while now, I can't stand having adobe on my rig.

Have you tried Adobe Reader 8? It's a million times faster than 7 or any other previous version. Apparently it actually uses your GPU to do all the scrolling, zooming, paning, etc. And it loads pretty much instantly for me.....It's a great step in the right direction for Adobe Reader that's for sure.
I never even knew about this foxit program. I may give it a shot just for kicks.

True but it also uses a lot more ram; way too much for something thats always running in the background and most use it here and there. Foxit is tiny, fast, and uses no resources at all. And you can actually uninstall it if you wish, unlike anything adobe;)
Foxit reader is awesome. I never use Adobe :D

That is not a good thing. The reason that program renders the pages so slowly is because it is written so poorly. It shouldn't need a GPU to do those things. That is like throwing a turbo charger on a 20 ton snail and then talking about how much faster it goes. It's better to just throw that out in favor of a Ferrari.
Not only does foxit render the pages faster without GPU acceleration than adobe does with GPU acceleration, it does so with only a fraction of the system resources used, and it loads documents instantly. Plus fully installed and fully decompressed it only takes 2MB of hard disk space, whereas adobe needs 70 just for the installer itself.

You would think that the multi billion dollar company that developed Photoshop would be able to put out something better than crappy Acrobat Reader. Though Adobe 8 is a step in the right direction

You speak as those Photoshop is this lean, mean fighting machine. I love Photoshop and live/die by it, but man...it's bloated to hell and back.
Alpha, thanks for the heads-up on this. I'm definitely going to check it out. I've had it with all-things Adobe Acrobat because of the bloat and insane time requirement for doing anything. I actually go out of my way to NOT open PDFs...I remember with v6 and v7, it would literally bring my computer to a halt as Acrobat fired up and attempted to load the PDF...unacceptable.
