This is great news! Now I can put the HDMI input to good use in my new 37" LCD.

Great! I can just return XBOX360 to get this one at BestBuy even if I need to pay some. :) This is a good news indeed!

$479?? I have to admit that the PS3 is looking more and more like the better deal lately. If the HD-DVD player is added to the mix that pushes the price of the 360 over the PS3. Way to go MS! :thumbdwn:

Screw the HD DVD Player in my opinion. The HDMI port will rock with my 37" 1080p LCD. This is not too overpriced considering the revisions that had to be made. You get a modification on the video chipset to include HDMI, a CPU that will most likely have gone through a die shrink to run cooler (65nm), and 6 times the Hard Drive space. Twice as much hard drive space as Sony's good for nothing but curing cancer "console" and playing BD I guess.

(aaa) )*runs from all the Sony Fans*

120GB>60GB And it costs $120 less.

If MS can somehow sell the console for $400 then it will be a homerun I think.

Ed's Note: Matt Helgeson, senior editor over at Game Informer, just dropped us a line to let us know that the story is in fact true. As a rule they don't post fake news stories in their April mag. So go celebrate.

I think even nv40 can rip apart this post.......that may by giving him too much credit but wishful thinking ftw.

Everything that I said was legit and made sense...minus my poking at the PS3 comment.:p

I really am sorry Sony fans I need to stop this.

But seriously altering the video chipset to allow an HDMI output and 120GB HDD seems like a great deal for anywhere between $400-$479. But hey maybe that's just me.

Nice! I'm glad I waited :) Too bad it doesn't have HD-DVD though. In the back of my mind I always wanted to try to watercool one of these.

I don't need HDMI nor a bigger HDD on my 360.

Me either. I do need a PS3 though :D

Although I may entertain the idea of a 2nd 360 further down the track if less and less game support split screen.

The great thing about the PS3 is that you don't need a proprietary hdd that costs too much....you can just pick up a regular computer hard drive and pop it in.

Really? Thats a pretty sweet feature. So you could pop in one of those Hitachi 1TB drives? LOL you'd definetely have the sweetest PS3 on the block then.

Dang, that sucks for all of us who bought a 360 around launch. Oh well, I'm still happy with my 360. I really don't use the HDD that much and the VGA cable works just fine. HD-DVD has been real disappointing (mainly just due to lack of titles) so I think it would help boost interest if they included the drives built in.

I might have been more tempted to buy it if it looked better. I think all black isn't that good on a 360, they should have added more features/style to it, the hdmi and bigger hdd is barely enough if you ask me. I was actually hoping they would make this the new premium and the current premiums would become the core, and the current cores will be canned. Oh well.... I'm not happy with MS on this one.

Hopefully MS has a press release soon on the specifics.

Unless you're desperate for hard drive space, there's no reason whatsoever to consider "upgrading" to the new model. Most current owners should get along just fine with their current systems.
