Steam / HL2 should be available in x64 edition, but I have no idea how to get it. My /Steam/ directory is about 20GB huge, and when migrating from XP x86 to Vista Ultimate x64 I just retained that directory, run stream.exe under Vista, logged-in to my Steam account, and that was it.

No 64b update was downloaded.

Tried downloading Steam intasllation (800K file) again, but with no change.

Does anybody know how can I get x64 HL2 and other games? I thought Steam should update them automatically, but since steam.exe is x86 executable only, it does not.

You must go to each game in your steam list and set them to "automatically download updates" instead of "do not update this game". Then it should update.

I have "Always keep this game up to date" for each game set. Still no go, game stays in x86 (I checked TaskMan, says *32 when the game is running). No x64 update is loaded.

// EDIT: Solved!! I was running "Cinematic Mod v 3.05" for HL2, and it did not update anything. But when I run actual HL2 without this textures mod, it started updating :-)
