View Full Version : BUY.COM screwed me. :(

So I purchased a rather pricey bundle form them as I wanted a Wii and as many of you know they're difficult to come by.

http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=204106567&loc=108&pageFormat=20&rs=1&

It arrived yesterday with everything except the extra wii remote. Not sure if this was just a goof, if they didn't have it in stock and figured they'd skimp on my bundle, or if someone decided to take it before it was shipped. Anyhow, it's missing and it's $39.99 (or $54.99 for the import version which is all I could find in a store last night).

I called them and they were very happy to issue a RMA number for me to box the entire bundle back up and send it to them at which point they'd issue a full refund... yeah right. Send back a fully functioning item that sells out in minutes whenever any shop gets it in stock because they goofed and missed one part of the bundle? Not likely. No matter who I talked to they wouldn't issue a refund or $40 for the controller or send me a controller. I had to return the entire thing.

It $240 more than I wanted to initially spend on the thing and now I spent another $55 just so I could actually play it with my family.

So just a warning to everyone about buy.com.

LOL no offence, but why would you buy something off a site with a name like BUY.COM LOLLLLLL that's just terrible.

If you really want a Wii just do a google search for people selling them in your city. I paid 100 extra bux for mine, but I don't care.. no one else I know has one.

never had an issue with buy.com, i usually take advantage of their $20 dollar of a $50 purchase when using google checkout offers. got a wireless 360 controller for cheap :p

Me neither, I buy stuff from buy.com and their service has been excellent for me. Sorry to hear about your situation. :(

Yeah I can understand it being a mistake and I really wasn't that upset until it got to the customer service side of things. I've been spoiled by EVGA's customer service.

Assuming I don't hear back from them regarding my last e-mail here in the next few hours, I'll be sending a complaint to the BBB.

I have the perfect idea. Send the whole thing back. Get a GC and you essentially have the same system with similar graphical abilities (yeah for 480p). Listen, get the grand GC controller; get off your bum and do some jumping jacks. Now you have the Wii experience and it will save you 200 bucks. Seriously, I think the motion controller is kinda of cool, but it is not overly precise. It is rather crude if you ask me. Moreover, the graphics hurt the eyes after seeing the 360, PS3 or even mid-range PC. The Wii is so over-rated in my eyes it hurts. Unless you are a fan of Zelda, I would pass.

OMFG, I cannot believe I found someone that agrees with me. You're a genius and the wii is the biggest piece of **** ever made.
the virtual boy would have been better if you could choose blue or green.

I've got a better idea. Why don't you two stick to threads that champion the system(s) that you enjoy instead of adding useless noise to this one. :)

*thread revival*

Buy.com does suck. I ordered a wow card from them a week ago and they still haven't even shipped the damn thing, even though they listed it in stock when I ordered it. They even listed it as having my order already "sent to the warehouse," then two days after I order it, it moves back to the processing stage. Emailing their support staff is worthless.

Apparently my experience is not at all unique. They commonly list items as being in stock when they aren't really in stock, and people often get screwed by having to wait a month to get a damn thing.

Dumbasses. Last time I order anything from them. If it weren't for the google checkout discount, I'd have canceled by now. Not that it would do much good, apparently when people cancel a long delayed order, they end up getting it way late anyways and aren't allowed a refund.

And just a follow up, the BBB route worked. The initial response they gave was the same BS their phone people sent me. I wouldn't accept that their answer was adequate and the next response was a tracking # for the part I was originally missing in my shipment.

Never had a problem with Buy.com, but perhaps I'm just lucky. I never turn to them unless they either have a deal exceedingly better than anyone else. If Newegg has the same item for $5 more I'll definitely buy from them instead.

QFT. I have never ordered from them. I don't order a lot online but when I do I usually go through newegg for all my tech needs, etc.

I guess I will stay away from buy.com no matter what...

whoa buy.com sure has changed since last time i ordered anything from them. maybe i'll stay away from them and order stuff from amazon.com or so. btw, amazon.com's customer service is freaking awesome and fast.

only bad thing about amazon.com is: they charge me taxes since amazon is in same city where i live. :( oh well no biggies.
