Just received a phone call from my contact at Activision and a follow up email

Good news:
We've got new information on the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars™ pre-order program to share with you:


What:
North American pre-order programs for Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars.

When:
Pre-orders start on March 26th at Gamestop and on April 12th at Best Buy.

Why:
By reserving a copy of Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars in advance, fans can secure their preferred username, receive special edition collector’s cards, as well as an exclusive poster.

More Details:
§ Advance Username Registration: Get an exclusive keycode to reserve your preferred username now.

§ Collector’s Cards: Receive the first 2 cards in a set of 12, each featuring a different Strogg or GDF vehicle or deployable with game facts and tips. The remaining 10 cards will only be available in the Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Limited Collector’s Edition (see below).

§ Poster: There are two posters in all, with each retail location offering one exclusive poster each.



About the Limited Collector’s Edition:


Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars Limited Collector’s Edition features premium packaging with a slipcase, as well as ten collector’s cards, available only through the Limited Collector’s Edition offer. In addition to the premium packaging and collectible cards, fans will receive a bonus DVD, complete with concept art and other cool stuff for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars’ biggest fans.

Summary:
Winner of more than 15 awards in 2006 and selected as one of the most anticipated new titles in 2007 by more than eight publications, Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars is being developed for the Windows PC by Splash Damage. Players choose to battle as one of five unique classes in either the conventionally armed GDF army or the futuristic Strogg invasion force, each outfitted with specialist weapons and combat hardware. In this adrenaline pumping fight for survival, warring forces utilize a variety of different vehicles, deployable structures, and defense systems including quad-bikes, tanks, and alien walkers for epic ground assaults; or helicopters and anti-gravity ships to unleash airborne attacks. Throughout each battle, teams establish bases, deploy defense structures, artillery, radar, and advanced forward-command systems into enemy territory while constructing and demolishing obstacles to speed progress and gain a tactical advantage over the opponent. Bad news for me:
I was invited out for to Activision/ID in Calf for a hands on sneak peek of ET:QW but had to pass because I'm in Vegas all week attending a computer security show.

Is ET:QW a single player game or is it multiplayer only?

If it's like the original ET, it's multiplayer only.

And I can't wait :cool:

We used to have a bunch of nvnews guys play on the ET servers before. Now, I don't think I see anyone :(

Bu and glowstick I think were 2 people I used to play with regularly.

The May issue of PC Gamer has confirmed that there will be bots available in Quake Wars.

Here is an extract from the May edition of PCGamer. The interview is with John Dean the man behind the Fritz Bot mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein who is now employed by id Software.

PCG: How has bot AI and waypointing been improved for ETQW over Fritzbot or bots seen in other recent games? What will we see that hasn't been done or tried before in other games?

Dean: The great thing about ETQW is the emphasis on teamwork. Every objective requires the team to work together to complete the objective, and the bots understand this and will work with you and each other to complete that objective. Medic bots will give health and provide cover as an Engineer builds the bridge. A GDF FieldOps bot will hand ammo to needy teammates, and call in fire support to break the enemy defenses. Covert bots will sneak behind enemy lines looking to cause trouble, like disabling enemy deployables, ect.

I thought for sure they said there weren't going to be bots so this is really good news if true. Although, from reading that blurb, it's hard to tell if this means I can fight against bots (i.e. not play online).

If there are bots, I'll probably get this.

If not, I probably won't.

There will have to be a demo either way though. I didn't like the first enemy territory at all, but this one looks a lot different.
