I'm running 2048x1536 16af in the cp with max in game settings, I a get large range of fps, from 15-30-60, ave 45. My core1 is pegged at 100% I bet a quicker CPU would do me some good.

Have you been underground yet? I am running with vsync so I am always pegged at 60FPS outdoors at 1920x1200 16xAF and every visual setting maxed. When I get underground, however, my framerate drop sometimes to about 20 for a second or two then jumps up to usually 30ish in really intense areas with a lot going on graphic-wise.

My average is probably about 30-40. However, underground and in some more intense above ground places/situations, it will dip to basically unplayable levels (mid teens), and the sounds of the gun will actually start to lag (yeh its that bad).

For these situations, the only solution to get better fps really is to go to static lighting, lowering the resolution or settings on full dynamic doesnt really do a whole lot.

I'm at 1920x1200, 8xAF, 60hz Vsync, Sun shadows on, Grass shadows off, most sliders except lighting distance set to max or almost max. Before someone starts shouting 'Turn off Vsync thats your problem'... it doesnt make any difference.

Probably my cruddy cpu is to blame  . The problem with going the conroe route is all up it costs $500+ AU dollars for the cpu/ram/mobo replacements, which is just money I dont have to spare. I spent so much on Vista/Dell 2407/8800GTS theres nothing left for any other upgrades :( What a waste of money Vista was at full price on launch day... I cant use it yet because there are so many issues (mainly to do with games on vista sucking right now).

It can get rather frustrating, I really didnt think this game would push my computer so hard, I was oh so wrong :o

Most of the time its ok, its just at certain key times I think to myself 'omg the framerate is so bad.. I'm really not enjoying this.' And then I go to the menu and change to Static lighting (which looks so bad :( ). Voila... DX8 60fps constant. The performance is my only main gripe with the game.

Also the 'Pool' multiplayer map completely destroys my computer, pretty much 20fps average with no other players, all other multiplayer maps are ok. Anyone else get really bad performance on this map?

I havent yet. Im only on my second task. Do you have settings advice? Ive heard that some people shut some settings down in the game and then use the control panel to change them? I dont know about this.

Those tweaks do nothing for me, identical fps.

So does everyone agree this is the #1 most taxing game on the PC at the moment?

On my rig the Grass shadows are the one thing that slowed it down the most. The grass shadows look cool, but I turned them off to gain 5-10 fps on average.
