Open ended RPG style like Oblivion?

oh god i hope not.

RPG needs choices, but the most important part is strong storyline.

Oblivion was a ****ing joke, main story was about 5-7 hours long, and all those useless side quest. hey can you help me get my potatoes back from the ogre.

:) Funny, but I suppose I have to agree. I liked Oblivion, but I do see your point. We need a new direction with an RPG title.

Never heard of it until now. Looks pretty cool. As long as it's not one of those hardcore character micromanagning RPG's I'll give it a shot. I f-ing HATE that crap. I just want to play, level up and not have to hassle with tracking stats.

Which is why Oblivion is so appealing to me. nekrosoft, how many factions did you play through? Yeah there's the boring and pointless side quests but the beauty of the game is that you don't HAVE to do those. There's plenty of amazing side quests.

Not sure about international release, but in Poland is planned for September 2007 release (confirmed in the preview). All I know that there will be two versions normal and collectors. Normal one will go for 99ZL, after conversation is about 30 bucks.

This is first game CD Projekt is developing, before CD Projekt was strictly a publisher and localization studio, where they translated games from English/German etc... to Polish. According to the Preview so far they spend 20 Million ZL(about 6,250,000 Dollars) on this game.

edit: corrected date

i play RPGs for one main reason, i want it to tell me, show me a good tale. Side quest are fine, if they have a point, or are some how connected to main story.

Main storyline in Oblivion is pathetic. I still play it from time to time, only for the eye candy.

Same here, thats why I loved the KOTOR series, Strong story but still had sidequests that didn't throw you off the main plot.

All of the factions quests tie into the main quest. After completing them all, you get a much better understanding of the Vardenfall lore.

The side quests though I agree, have nothing to do with the main quest (most of the time) but I actually welcome the break from the main quest. It gives insight on what's going on with individual cities and towns rather than what Mankor Camoran is up to.

Watch the videos on the game, its not mindblowing graphics (it's running on the origina NWN Engine) but it does what it needs to very well.
