and then the RPMed the GLX file (same version).
Rebooted and then x died. and wouldnt boot up
Any suggestions?

Umm you mean download the src of the driver for the kernel?
Only 1 problem every time i download a src file i wound up with about 50 errors like i did with the .tar.gz versions that ive got thats what im more worried about.

See my reply to the following thread. I have included a bash script to compile & install the SRC's
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8876
See how you go with that.
Also make sure that you have the kernel source for your working kernel installed. Otherwise you will NOT be able to compile the drivers.

You may have to run the Redhat video config utiltiy and set it to vesa. (Can't remember the utility name, as I have never needed to use it).
What video card is it?? Sounds very unusual that it's not auto detected..

Sounds like those files are corrupted. Have you tried to download them again??
If not, try downloading them again. I've installed those same drivers using that script on three different systems, all with different mother boards and video cards. And I have had no problems.
