If Intel were to make a high end dx10 graphics solution, and they supported dx 5-10 features in hardware, and did the drivers right, would it work with all 3D games?
I know most games don't have intel graphics listed as "supported," but if the above conditions are met, including them having their driver team work their asses off, would "supported" status be necessary for all games to run perfectly?
I really don't know b/c I've never had a pc w/ intel graphics chipsets.

Why wouldn't it? If the GPU can support the features that a game requires then it should run, how good depends on the power of the GPU. Right now the reason most games don't run on Intel Chipsets is because they lack many feature support required in games.

Thanks. Sorry about everything.
I had expected to see that thing that had a darker version of the green boss (I forgot his name) of MM 8 and MM & Bass (aka MM 9, rockman and forte) in the background.

ive also wondered this. i dont see why not since the dx10 api is universal and supports all of the same features...xyz culling and shaping, possibility of rgss and whatnot

I'm convinced that if Intel wanted to, they could release a GPU that'd stomp the best nVidia and ATi could put out at that time. Intel has far too many resources available to them to not be capable of doing such.
Intel does not make Graphics cards, only IGPs... and they suck at it. Intel should make Geforce based cardsIt's not that they suck at it. They just have a different goal. nVidia and ATI focus on processing power. Intel focuses on making low-power, inexpensive graphics processors.
An Intel GMA has never been able to compete against nVidia or ATI on the graphics processing benchmark, but it can own in manufacturing costs and power consumption; one of the prevailing reasons radeons and geforce gos are nowhere to be found in ultra-light notebooks.
Also, for those interested in finding the article themselves (I forgot where I saw it), intel released a few photos of testers playing Half-Life 2 on the X3000 IGP at a 30-60 avg fps (depending on the scene) with the new "soon-to-be-released" driver.

Intel GMA's just lack it all. Only good for business, nothing else. Let em stick to cpu's, they made GFX cards in the past and they were crushed with ease by the competition

If Intel threw as much R&D into their graphics as they do their processors, they'd probably own everyone. However, that would require a ton of $$$$$$$$ and it would also require that the public catch on to the cards.
They're better off just sticking to processors and letting the other graphics "big-wigs" take care of what we see. ;)
