Alright, this is really pissing me off. From this interview it is obvious that they don't care about IQ. If you pay close attention, you can tell that he worries about a performance hit, so it sounds like the new features aren't going to be anything good.

If they've taken that long to launch a product, and they don't have enough performance to give good IQ, then why do they even bother?

They're going to put an audio processor on it too, but then ATI will be too stupid to put an EMI shield on it.

Pretty much the only good thing ATI currently has is that it has a ****load of fog types in hardware.

But I think it's 100% safe to say that all but one of those fog types are going to have their transistors removed.

I am really not sure how you came to that conclusion by the interview.

Is it because of the AA comment? He obviously wasn't really sure.

actually, its just a ploy to go around the forums posting nonsense to make everyone's head :headexplode: then try and take over. I mean really, how do you not feel dumber after reading some of his posts?

Yes, b/c he didn't say there would be higher quality iq. Thanks=)

No it's not. Why must you make false assumptions/accusations?

I have no intent to do what you said.

How did you get to this conclusion?, I donīt see anything on this interview related to bad or less IQ than previous generations or less IQ than G80...

I dont see anything pointing to that either

anyway is there a link on that FSX geometry shader story ?

This is the same guy that whines about the IQ loss from lossless color compression, and when challenged, comes back with "all compression algorithms lose something".

OK I'll bite.

I agree with you 100%, that's EXACTLY what he said.

While he was talking about midgets and mermaids somewhere in the middle.

it has been confirmed that it will be $499 for the highest end.

if r600 isn't good I am done with PC gaming forever. I will sell my rig and use the money to buy a motorcycle.

seriously, the state in which new hardware and software is being released to the public has become horrible. Its like we are paying to beta test these companies ****.

At this point I've given up on bothering to stay on the bleeding edge. I get hardware that works well then I stick with it for a while. I'm sticking w/my sig except for a video card *maybe* for at least another year. Once DDR3 has been out for a while and all the bugs are out, comes down in price, etc. then I might ditch this chip/board/mem.

He's the new and improved AthlonXP1800!

Slightly better grammar, same worthless crap!

1800's grammar could be excused because he was hearing impaired.

This guy, he's on a whole other level.

1800 i could at least deal with him on some level but this guys is on such a level he's a one man "dumb and dumber"

to be honest i was thinking of taking a break untill some of the ass hatery that he and others are doing on this board clears but on second thought i like nvnews too much...

Well to tell you the truth 16x FSAA is abit over kill when you run at 1600x1200+ and 32x FSAA is well whats the point of having the huge performance hit with very little diffrence. He did not get into AF. Which i would like to see an improvement in.

that's not good.Confirmed by who? I sure could not find it in the interview you posted same as i could not find there that R600 isn't going to have good IQ.

Anyway what's not good about $499 for the top end card, compared to the price for 8800GTX it's more than competitive. Specially if most rumors about the R600 being slightly faster are true.
The other rumors also predict it will have HDMI connection with sound chip on board, I sure would like to see that for my Westy LVM-37w3 monitor.

There's a link on Hardocp.

If it's $499, then the few things they have that are good will be cut.

It may be faster, but if the IQ still sucks, then what good does good performance do?

Trust me, the R600 is going to suck. Prices should be going up, not down.

And about the sound processor onboard, ATI is not one to make things complete, especially if it's cheaper than their previous high end. That means probably no EMI shield, that would mean a lot of undesired noise.

ATI does the stupidest things and unfortunately nvidia follows them some of the time. But thank God it's not all the time.

I'm right. I'm not always right. In fact, I'm wrong more than most people, but I can guarantee you I'm right about this.

If I'm somehow wrong about the low price meaning less quality, then the low price is done out of desperation.

Prices don't go down, they at least stay the same, but usually go up. I've never seen high-end HW go down in price like that.

Keep in mind nvidia has a lot more money to play around with and their high end product costs quite a bit more than ATI's does.

That's no different than any other audio processor, though. That's why it's very difficult to get truly high end sound out of a computer- it's an extremely noisy electrical environment. But whether or not the sound processor and video processor are on the same board make very little difference (hint: What frequencies does the human ear hear anyways? What frequencies do modern gpu's run at?).
