Ok... I have the same mobo so I know how to help...
the FIRST thing you need to do is install redhat 8.0 in TEXT mode... the graphical install wont work ( I know it did in 7.x)
THEN search the forum for a thread entitled "Red Hat 8.0 nforce updated instructions" there are 4-5 posts that will get you going... I have the same set-up so I can help with any hiccups... but read that thread first... it is VERY detailled!

Hi
I did the same as described in the thread, now it is running fine. Thanx everbody involved. I am very happy as i myself has done something in linux.
I am having few queries
1. While installing when i choose boot loader as GRUB, linux does not boot up it gives some "out of memory error". So i have to use LILO
2. I am using dual booting. How can i adjust he LILO display time, as the default is only 2-3 secs.
3. In the Display properties the 3D hardware acceleration option is disabled, how can i enable it.
4. XMMS is not working properly, i am unable to open any file in it.
5. I have to mount fat32 partition using run command. How can i automount it on startup.
Pls. help
Thanx

#1 the nforce chipset does not play very well with GRUB... you HAVE TO use LILO
#3 In display settings 3D accel is ALWAYS grayed out, even if 3D accel is enabled... try running tuxracer and see what your frame rate is like... or download glxgears... if glx gears works then 3D accel is enabled
#4 Redhat removed the ability to play mp3s with RedHat 8.0 go to www.xmms.org and see what they say about it... you will have to download a rpm file to get xmms to play mp3s.
Or use ogg vorbis music files
Hopefully someone else will help with the other issues...

Or you could go to the site below for XMMS and other stuff.

Thanx to whosoever replied my queries
As i am very new to linux, so do not know much about installing the packages
I have downloaded the XMMS mp3 rpm from the site. Do i have to recompile it as i did while installing the nvidia drivers or it can be installed straight away with "rpm -ivh".
What is the difference between "*.rpm" and "*.src.rpm" files and I know that src files are source files.
and how can i increase the LILO display time.
