Anyone else getting windows explorer reboots during gaming. I started getting this while playing COD2. Randomly I will get a message that Windows explorer has stoped responding and is restarting....

I get that with Madden 07. I was thinking it had something to do with Dreamscenes. Are you running a dreamscene background?

No bro, no dreamscene here, I learned that was to buggy a long time ago... If my resolutions do not match in anything including screen savers I get horrible veritcal corruption so I just leave all that stuff off for now...

I only got the exporer problem once, but I run everything (games, desktop, screensavers, etc) at my native LCD resolution. I haven't experienced the corruption you are talking about.

Is it just me of does SupCom run like crap with this driver? It seems the foliage has a huge impact on the framerate at certain zoom levels which causes horrible stuttering when changing views. :(

Hmm I find it very interesting that Crysis was running at CES on driver 100.30 pretty damned well... yet we have big problems in terms of both performance and features many many releases later. Either it means DX10 really does give good performance improvements and simply works better in Vista than DX9 or that Crysis build was well optimised for that driver (if that makes sense).

Sorry.. a little off topic, but could not look the other way.

I always had the feeling that openGL games were faster than d3d...
Now we know why.
Still.. microsoft will not tell you that dx9 was SH*T...
Microsoft will instead tell you that dx10 is like 10% faster than dx9 and get you all excited.

This my friends is gooooooood PR (and bad programming) (nana2)

I dono if it is just with the 7900 series but if my game resolution does not match my desktop native res. then I get massive vertical corruption upon ALT-TAB. This has happened with all drivers after the 96.33 beta drivers for RC1/RC2.

I wonder if it is the 7900s for some odd reason. I had SLId 7800s and now the 8800gts and have never seen that.

What the heck with with Nvidia's drivers. Negative LOD Bias still will randomly change to allow. With these and the latest leaked XP drivers. Cmon guys get it together already!!!

Has anyone played WoW with these drivers? Most of wow plays ok under vista for me until I go to outland and then it takes a nose dive! :(

WoW Plays fine for me. Actually it is the only game I have been playig for a while. But yes once I first load up in Outland I get a drop FPS then it icks up again once I leave the cities. I think it is more to do with Network then Video settings.

Cheers

Well I have several members in my gaming clan that have the 7900 and they have the same issue. I also have a HTPC that I built running a single 7900 connected 1080i to my 61 HDTV and I get the same vertical corrution if I run Dreamscene in SS mode and when I wake the pc out of it it has thevertical corrution. Also if I ALT-TAB out of a game I get it.... It really is extremely annoying and I wish Nvidia would fix this problem already.... I have looked on EVGA forums and I am not the only one suffering from this problem....

Yep, especially Shattrath and Terokkar Forest are the worst for me (so far)
None of the vista drivers have liked those areas so far.

It changes to Allow when you switch from forced AF (any level) to App Controlled AF, not 'randomly'.

confirmed, rainbow six las vegas has AA now + HDR

Err...I re-installed 101.70 to see if this was true but it's NOT working for me.
I see jaggies everywhere.

I chose the R6Vegas_Game.exe in CP and set it to "override" but nothing.

Here is a solution for alot of problems. All of the profiles are read only in the default vista installation. So if you make changes to them they are NOT saved.
To fix this, log in as admin and do a search starting from the windows directoru for all *.xml files. There are two, nvapps.xml and nvwsapps.xml in the windows\system32 directory.
Right click on each of these in turn and select the permissions tab. Then give yourself full control.
All profiles file now be savable and all changes will remain so that the games will pick them up.

Finally figured out that one.

One other thing,
If you find that you want to downgrade to 101.41 or 100.65, you have to unistall the 101.70 from the device manager and then reboot.
Do not reinstall after the reboot, reboot again and enter into safe mode.
Then delete all references to nvcp*.* from the system 32 directory.
When you reboot again, vista will tell you that it cannot find nvcplui.dll. That's good!

Because what happens if you do not do this, is that you will continue to run the new control panel that comes with the 101.70 drivers and not the panel from the drivers you wish to install.
This is a long standing bug in their drivers which causes old control panels to remain in effect with all kinds of problems.

I really can't believe that nvidia developers are so amateurish that they don't check these things properly.

Well, I just cleaned out all references to previous drivers in safe mode and re-installed 101.70 and then deactivated UAC.

This is the real deal so far....Enabling and disabling SLI works great...no reboot necessary, activating dual monitors (one on each 8800GTX) and then switching to SLI also works great. (Only icon position gets reset to the resolution of my other monitor)

Games...(all maxed out at 1920x1200)

R6Vegas full HDR and AA by default. I don't even get this in XP64.
Stalker works great I get 70+ fps pretty well all the time.
Quake4 finally is playable in SLI, Fear show a minimum of 66 fps.
Nothing has crashed and no more "nv......has stopped responding."

Oblivion can use the full range of aa and hdr if you use nhancer. Here is the only problem I've found so far, in that the 3d settings in the control panel still don't always work. But nhancer takes care of that.

The only thing missing is overclocking but that's minor when you're getting 50+ fps!

This is definitely the best driver I've seen from nvidia in a long time...

Uhm, dude there are 2 new versions out today, 158.14 and 161.10 or something, go check those out, they are 3X as good as any of these 100 series drivers.
