since NTune still doesn't work with x64 and the latest drivers, is it possible at all to overclock my card without having to hit f8 every damn time I boot the computer? Thanks!

Because of measures MS has put into X64 to make it more stable (signed drivers), I doubt you ever will be able to. Might wanna try x86.

Flash your BIOS like I did. I've been running at 600/2000 on my 8800 GTX since installing Vista x64.

Yea, I did too before you could OC in Vista X86. Fixed my overclocking woes.

Well I have a 7900 GTO that I run at GTX speeds, is it possible to adjust that in the bios?

you have to find the bios, edit the bios to desired clock speed, have a floppy disk, copy the flasher program, and new bios, reboot, flash the new bios on the card.

just remmember, by doing this your warranty is void, just wanted to say that before you come back complaining that something went wrong. if you decide to do this, its at your own risk

Well I am not sure how to find my bios, or edit it so...I think il just deal with stock speeds until nvidia un****s ntune :)

Well I think that the popular apps will work eventually, since speedfan works out of the box on Vista x64 and for it to work, it needs a signed driver. My best guess is its microsoft's delay at this point, but who knows?

This disables driver signing in Vista 64bit without having to use F8 each boot up

with admin privilages open a CMD window and type

bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS

Then restart.

Apparantly this has a few security implications however.

You need nvFlash v5.50 & NiBiTor v3.3 ... this site will have both nvFlash v5.50 & NiBiTor v3.3 & your gfx cards latest bios www.mvktech.net

Use NiBiTor ... start the program then at top left go to read bios>select device>ok. Then back to tools>read bios but this time choose the second one down(read into NiBiTor) and theres your gfx cards bios! you could visit the above site to download the latest bios version for your card, this could allow for better overclocking if you flashed the bios!

Flash to the latest bios version first without overclocking to make sure the bios takes ok then if all goes well your set to overclock and re-flash!

Just use ATITool 0.27b and disable driver checks using the method somebody posted above which does work.

Vista 64bit wont allow you to run unsigned drivers, you don't have a choice like in 32bit, it forces it to stop.

You can press F8 on boot (each time you boot) and select "disable driver signing" or you can use the method i've posted above to remove it which keeps it permenantly off rather than per boot session like the F8 method.

I have done that few weeks ago.

I've tried disabling it through both the bcdedit and F8 methods and ATiTool still says the kernel driver's not running or the graphics card I selected isn't being used. And NiBiTor still says Cant start driver 1275.

Keep in mind this needs to be done when you first install the application otherwise you're going to get a corrupt install.

Just to confirm, I got ATI Tool 0.27 Beta 1 running last night on Vista 64bit but had to use the DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS command to enabled signed drivers.

To get ATI Tool 0.27 Beta 1 you'll have to take a trip onto their forums and find the beta thread and grab it there, the link isnt on the front page.

Thanks, so far that new version seems to be working fine. I also found a new way to disable the driver signing checks, perhaps permanently: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=28827

I've tried the CMD line and it works however you never know when you will have to re enter it. Sometimes driver check seems to cut itself back on.

I have been using ATi Tool and now I just hit F8 every time. Yeah it's annoying and at least I know it will work.

Have you tried the other method?

Use gpedit.msc and navigate to:

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System -> Driver Installation and enable the "Code signing for drivers" and then choose "Ignore".
