I have Oblivion installed on my machine, with the newest patch. I dont have any expansions for it.

I dont play it anymore, so i am trying to take it off. I got a huge problem. When ever i tell it to unstall the game (from Add/Remove Programs, from the Oblivion dialog box, or from the start menu) this ALWAYS pops up, and wont let me uninstall. (ill put screenshot up soon.) It says that its Error Code: 5001

>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (390)
PAPP:Oblivion
PVENDOR:Bethesda Softworks (http://www.bethsoft.com)
PGUID:35CB6715-41F8-4F99-8881-6FC75BF054B0
$11.0.0.28844
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) IE 6.0.2900.2180

I click cancle or close, which ever it is. And it shows another box telling me the Error Code and junk. Then it just exits out and wont let me uninstall it.

Anyone know how to fix this? Anyone know what the heck it is? Ive never seen something like this before.

Please and thank you.

Edit: Ok, here is a screen shot.

I had this problem once. Use CCleaner.

First delete all the files from your program directory. Then run CCleaner and get rid of all the registry settings and install shield files associated with Oblivion or Bethesda softworks.

I fixed it. I ran System Restore in Safe Mode, then deleted all the files after it restored it to a point BEFORE i put the game on my system (i backed up all my important files of course.)

Thanks for the help, neways!
