View Full Version : Anyone out there with an Orion Monitor?
I'm looking at 19" monitors and I can get an Orion from Sams Club for $189. Flat Screen, 1600x1200 @75Hz, .25 pitch, 3 year warranty... can't see any reason why not to get it.
I woudn't buy a Flat screen unless it was Aperture Grill. Unless you want diagonal lines where you should have smooth color.
And there's no way to tell if x monitor has an aperture grill unless they specifically state it?
I can't tell just by looking at the blank screen. Usually manufacturers specify whether it's AG or Shadow Mask.
Here's a guess but from what I've been seeing, the shadow mask monitors run a low bandwidth (around 210MHz) and for a 19" the screen resolution never goes above 1600x1200....

Did you buy it? I was considering getting the same monitor for a second computer.

Naw I didn't, I'm gonna save up a little more and get their 19" Sony.
my AOC flatscreen looks very nice.. how do i find out what type of grill or whatever its got??
The manufacturer's information should  tell you which you have, though some don't. And in the latter case, I guess it's a little trial and error.
Though, if the resolution of say, a 19", is well over 1600x1200 (1800 x 1440) then the display probably has a FD Trinitron tube, which is an aperture grill.
Also, I'm pretty sure the non-flat screens do not use aperture grills.
