Before I throw my computer in the trash I thought I'd ask for help.

Its really quite simple.

I have my Music folder being "shared" on my Vista machine and my XP laptop has simple file and printer sharing and it CAN see my Music folder no problem but when I click on it from XP I get Access Denied.

I've done google searches and have enabled all that they mention on the Vista machine and I added the "everyone" group to the security tab of the shared music folder...but still no go.

what is this and what gives!!?!?!

Under the Sharing tab, go to Advanced Sharing. Click Permissions. Make sure that "Everyone" has Full Control. Try adding the specific users as well.

Add specific users under the Security tab, as well.

NTFS permissions SHOULD override any share specific permissions, but what I suggested should be worth a try.

Ah! Got it! thanks for the tip. I added "everyone" to the wrong section and did NOT have FULL CONTROL enabled. :(

ahh the pains of learning vista. Gotta love it.

this is not just vista. XP, 2000 all have permissions.
