Should I get Planet Earth on BD or HD DVD?
HD DVD's are generally higher quality as far as SQ/PQ. Whenever confronted with a choice, HD DVD wins.

Wow, I would have never imagined Night at the Museum would have done that successful.
Just wait another 3 weeks and these numbers will change dramatically ;)
You are aware The Matrix trilogy launches the same day as the completely gay PotC right?

I'm going to go with a high-priced boxed set of three of the biggest movies ever.
~$70 for all three Matrix movies plus a ton of extras.
~$50 for both Pirates movies.
Hmm...
There isn't that much of a price difference

Except you don't exactly have to buy both of the PotC movies at the same time... nice try though.

How does that change the price of the movies together?

Link me to where I can buy Matrix (1) on HD-DVD only. Please.
See... some people love the first (both Matrix and PotC), but dislike the sequel(s)... so for them, a non boxset is best since they have choice... isn't that what you anti-PS3 people are always going on about? Choice?

Then CHOOSE to buy it on SD or not at all. I really don't get what you're driving at here.

I am getting at the fact that if you like the first PotC and not the second one, no problem, buy only that. With the Matrix, if you enjoy just the first one... OOPS SOWWY!

Actually I wasn't aware of that. It's going to be a competitive week then for both camps. Can't wait to see how the numbers turn out...
I know that week i'll be supporting both camps cuz I'll be picking up both POTC titles and 40-year old virgin on HD DVD so we'll see what happens

afaik both versions of planet earth are made exactly the same regarding video and audio. Both use vc-1 and dolby digital surround sound; so i think the quality is basically the same with both formats.

Lemme axe this: If I have a receiver (HDMI 1.3 for giggles - not that it will make a diff at all) with PS 3 connected to it and 360 Elite connected to it: which will give better sound? PS 3 all HDMI, 360 with HD DVD add on HDMI (can also do optical for better sound it that will help since I do not know what audio it will send over HDMI).
Chris, what settings do I use as well for the PS 3 and 360 in terms of best audio quality? You seem to have a good handle on this stuff.

The PS3 should have better sound as the HD DVD add on for the 360 still has jacked up sound although it is supposed to be fixed in a future patch even though they have been saying this for months.

Don't confuse them with facts. :p

He said "generally" not "every time" and certainly not "with Planet Earth."
