Wait what happened to "Sales rank means nothing"? Seems you HD-DVD lot are worse than politicians when it comes to flip flopping.

I wonder if this 1400+ post "Everyone buy hd-dvd movies on april 15th on amazon.com to show your support" thread on AVS has anything to do with it. It's been planned for almost a month.

I find it hilarious... it was originally to celebrate the "birth day" of HD-DVD, which is cool... but now they are like "ZOMG LETZ TOTILY DU THIS AGAIN IN TEH JUNE WIN IT IS TEH BLIRAY BDAY!@#"... kind of sad.
Personally I wouldn't participate in this kind of stuff anyway since if I want a movie, I WANT THE MOVIE... I am not waiting for a special day to buy movies... I will buy the movie when it comes out.

Yeah I think it's pretty sad my self. I'm with you, I'll buy the movie when I want the movie. Though to be fair, AVS is crazy like that some times. I wouldn't be surprised if the blu-ray side on that forum did the same thing on blu-ray's anniversary.
Ruined, keep fighting the good fight man. ;) I'm gonna go watch some movies. :D

Yeah they probably will... I don't mind it... I just could never put off buying movies just to do that. I saw some people saying they were going to put off buying movies for a month just to add to the list... seems too crazy to me.

I'm pretty sure a lot of them are pre-orders. How hard is it to put off pre-ordering movies for a month that won't come out for another month or two? ;)

Defensive? I was just making an assessment on the possibilities. The numbers themselves are impressive if you want to know my opinion, especially when this is a 70 dollar item hitting these numbers. I'm not knocking the numbers at all, they are definately a good showing for hd-dvd supporters. There is no spinning that.
That said, I haven't really cared much about numbers lately, give me the content.. not the PR.

And I think Ruined is going to bust a nut over Amazon sales rank... even though a week ago it didn't matter at all.

Please link where I stated Amazon sales data was unimportant since you have mentioned me stating this two times in this thread.
Amazon ranks are very telling, in fact looking at theDVDwars "since inception" ranking graph paints a very clear picture of the directions the war has gone in thus far.

Anyone who thinks this "War" is even remotely close to ending is an idiot, like Hunt. He busted a nut when " OMGm CASinO RToYALE HEHEhehe EBL:UE RAY WINS!!@!"

:rofl
dude...you never cease to make me laugh hahahahaha
After seeing the sales report not too long ago and how poorly a lot of hi def movies are selling, it seems like it'll take forever for the format war to be resolved...or at least quite a while before hi-def is competitive with standard def DVDs.

True, supporting by buying is all well and fine. But to rally that support on a specific date all at once in an attempt to make a comeback? Odd I'd say.

You still get 'n' quantities pre-ordered no matter how you look at it, be it 'n' people pre-ordering randomly or at the same date as everyone else. If anything, the rally delayed the comeback since it kept a lot of people from placing a pre-order at the time Amazon accepted pre-orders of Planet Earth.
Something I've been wondering -- what rank would The Matrix boxset would have had if Warner made available only one boxset and not two?
I should get paid for my story! :D

Well I mean if that thread is excited and pumped for all purchasing on one day, telling everyone else to also purchase on one day (including the people who weren't going to purchase at all), I think that would have a slightly higher effect than everything being spread out with no hype at all.
I guess the numbers at the end of the month will show what the deal is and if this thing even had an effect. Ruined is like a kid in a candy shop right now so I'm not going to ruin (no pun intended) his moment. :p Sorry for going off topic.
It's a lot closer now with the blu-ray version up to #6 but the HD DVD version has now crept up to #4! I wonder if the blu-ray fans, trying to do the same thing as the AVS HD DVD fans did with HD DVD, affected it.
