Problem with My Monitor

I've install suse 10.1 and after he booting my monitor gives me strange message (out of range)
What does it mean and what can I do

Probably the OS has tried to use video frequencies beyond the monitor's capabilities. Conservative settings will fix this, can be applied from the console (not a gui). But this shouldn't happen because the OS detects frequency limits and works within them. Has any "tricky" user configuration been done to override this?
