I know you can turn them off but a good portion of the people here surf from work and some of these have gone a bit to far, if you ask me. Its one thing to have a clothed ass, but a mostly nude ass, well I don't see why that is necessary. I'm seeing more and more, such as this one.

Why does something have to be necessary? People choose those avatars because that's what they want.

I love nude asses btw.

LOL at this thread.

You know, sillyeagle- if you were actually working while at work, maybe this wouldn't be an issue. :p (j/k)

You know, I don't do this often, but I agree with Sillyeagle. I don't mean any disrespect to anyone, but I too surf from work, and people come by my office alot.

I don't mean to put anyone on the spot, but there should be some type of guideline.

Not only that, do the people that have little kids want their children to see this? I'm not trying to turn this into a flame war, all I'm asking is for you (that have them) use a little moderation, please.

GamerGuyX
04-17-07, 06:33 PM
There is moderation by not allowing people to have anything they want as an avatar.

To a degree. They know if they did that, a mod would ask them to remove the picture.

I'm asking for a little more consideration.

My opinion means nothing to the next member. All I'm doing is asking for people to consider something more than just themselves.

I haven't seen any avatar here that's any worse than any other tech oriented forum.

I don't think thats the point that DD is trying to get across. We could compare it to the playboy forum and we might not have as many nude avs, but there are quite a few that are risqué. I'm not going to argue that some of the avs are a little over the top. It's one of those things that are funny with other guys, but not necessarily everyone else that might see the forums.

I was thinking this the other day as I saw yet another avatar w/some TnA, I don't mind it but all it takes is one time and a person could get fired these days. I enjoy seeing peoples avatars I really do but we already have a thread for "Babes" (which I totally avoid at work). The decision of course is left to MikeC and his moderation team.

Though I guess I would have to get rid of the avatar of my ****...

In my eyes, there simply is no issue at hand. Really don't see how this even compares to even your garden variety commercial you see on TV on a daily basis.

I mean what's next? You gonna start complaining that I got a pentagram as my profile picture?

Get the **** over yourselves.

GGX,
Please understand, I mean no disrespect...but I'm talking about something that is bigger than just you. If people are surfing at work, and their boss' stroll pass their pc and see some half-naked girl on the user's pc, then that guy can get fired. No questions asked. There are Sexual Harassment laws that put a lot of pressure on companies nowadays.

And also...I have two soon-to-be step daughters. I would not want them to be watching over my shoulder (when I'm at home) and they see a half naked avatar on one of the threads I'm reading.

Again...this is just my opinion.

Pentagrams are just fine in public, no one is going to turn you in to the police because you are admittedly a Wicken (cept for early USA colonies hehe), but you run around naked they will turn you in for public indecency, your example compares apples to oranges.

You say that nvNews is no diff then other Tech forums for avatars, bs. I bet they ain't got DDoc pimpin' in his fly ride! ;) This decision is up to the staff though, so while we can rattle on all day fact is someone just wants to know how the mods feel, and if they call it down then we'll all agree, cause my being here is not based solely on the fact that I have my own pretty avatar.

I understand but in my opinion you shouldn't go here at work if you feel lke it may jeopardize your job. Same with when your step daughters are around. It should be your responsibility to take measures to stop those things from happening. Why punish the rest of us?

Who said I was a Wicken?

but you run around naked they will turn you in for public indecency,

Since when does having an avatar showing a bare butt equate to running around naked in a public place? And since when is nVnews a public place like a park or school playground?

This decision is up to the staff though, so while we can rattle on all day fact is someone just wants to know how the mods feel

Which is exactly why I'm not going to stand idly by and keep my mouth shut on the issue. The mods need to know that this isn't all one sided or even the majority opinion.

Punishment? So now it's a punishment you can't have a TnA avatar on a forum? I always thought personal avatars were a privilege. Some forums don't allow them, do I stop going there? No. But here we are not discussing 1/2 naked women (most of the time), we are discussing computer hardware, politics, etc. Why should anyone here have to feel like participating in such topics should cause them additional concern other then the topic contents?

It's an iffy issue I agree, but fact is we aren't in a democracy here, we don't necessarily have Freedom of Speech, we have an honor system and a much more despot-based (not in the tyrannical form) command structure so we await their decision should they wish to give it.

No. But here we are not discussing 1/2 naked women (most of the time), we are discussing computer hardware, politics, etc.

So now we have to have avatars that releate only to what we are talking about?

People have other interests other than what this forum was established for. And I could understand if we currently allowed people to post anything as there avatar but that's not even close to being the issue.

I think such avatars are really uncalled for. We have the babe thread, why must we have such stuff in the avatars?

Really, if you want to see that sort of thing there is always porn or some club or party with a bunch of drunk chicks. I don't see how it is necessary to be on a computer hardware forum.

Just my opinion. ;)

Damn, I've never been to a party or club and seen drunk hot chicks asses. I must be going to the wrong parties/clubs. Now that I think about it up here in Maine with many of the women the more they are covered up the better.:captnkill:

Once again, why does something have to be necessary to be allowed on here? People have other interests than what this forum is here for. If you want to post a pic of a hot chick go ahead. If you want to do it with what you consider a "hot dude" than do that too. I may give you **** about it but that don't mean you can't have that as your avatar.

I don't go here for the babe thread or for the risqué pics but if that's what the people want then by all means.

Just as I don't come here to see hot chicks, I don't want to nor do I expect to- yet I have to anyway.

We have yet to hear Mike's ruling on this- so getting all bent out of shape really doesn't seem necessary.

Besides, would it really hurt your feelings if Mike decided that such avatars aren't necessary? Would you stop frequenting this forum just because of that? I'd hope not.
