After I performed the required pre-installation uninstall of the previous drivers, the computer restarted and the uninstall program came up again on restart. I assumed this was to be expected due to multiple driver versions being on my computer that had to be cleaned up, but the second time around, halfway through the uninstall process, my computer stopped sending signals to my monitor, but the computer was still on and chugging along. I waited for the hard drive LED to stop flashing and then hit the restart button. Everything booted up fine, and then the driver install program came up after Vista started. After another restart, everything seemed fine, and now I can actually run 8xAA and Ultra High texture quality in CoH without having it chug whenever I scrolled around the map, which was an issue I had in 100.65. SCDA HDR+AA still doesn't work when forcing AA through the control panel though, I get transparent textures, but I thought this was supposed to be a resolved issue in this release.

These drivers are great so far for all the games I'm running under Vista, but that uninstall issue was a little strange. Anyone else have this issue?

Well, went back to 101.70s. here's what I did.

-Uninstalled old via device manager.
-rebooted to safe mode
-ran driver cleaner.
-manually remove all nv driver entries.
-ran ccleaner.
-rebooted and installed new drivers.

Both 158.18 and 165.01 gave bsods within 1/2 hour of gaming in STALKER and FEAR. Great performance and IQ though.:p

Been playing on the 101.70s for a while now, no issues.

I'm sure I could have done something wrong, but I think I covered all the steps.
Just bumping this up hoping for input. Others seem to be running the 158.18s or the 165.01s problem free.

These steps I listed were taken after following Nvidias instructions, so I did try their way also.

Thanks for any ideas, I'd really like to try these again.

Now I'm getting this on the 101.70s. Never happened before installing/uninstalling the 158.18s.

Really hope this doesn't lead to reinstalling windows.

EDIT: Bug report filed for this and STALKER also, as I know others are getting it.

Wow I can't believe all the problems that are occuring just through the simple process of uninstalling and reinstalling a graphics driver. My Vista install got hosed after trying the 165.01 and 158.18. Could never get rid of the old cp even after following Ncraptaculars driver install procedure (wish they'd sort their ***** out regarding this). After the install on reboot the comp just kept thrashing the hdd's, nhancer got screwed up, cp wouldn't open blah blah blah.

Ncraptacular and MSoftschlong have realy phuched themselves in the ar$e, they have made the whole uninstall/install of graphics drivers so convoluted thats it's a total pathetic joke. Sometimes the process works if your lucky, if not the os just gets screwed over and everything becomes phucked up.

Did a system restore and wound back the problem, saved me the grief of a total os reinstall.....not happy at all, this whole senario is phucked in the extreme.

Really starting to get the impression the Vista is nothing more than a ***** os at best. (nana2)

Well I just installed these....so far so good I think. I just ran the install with my old drivers still installed, it detected that they were still there, and uninstalled them. Then it restarted my compy, and continued setup. Now they're installed and working great so far...haven't done any game testing yet. But the CP does load a million times faster.....

Just re-installed Vista. Everything went bad after installing these, bsod like crazy. Couldn't rescue the system after reinstalling the 70s which never crashed on me before.

Hope the rest of you fare better.

Working just fine for me so far. Last drivers I had were the old ones on the nvidia site (version number escapes me atm), non-beta.

Fixed the Dark Messiah issue that I had (game wouldn't load at all). So far all seems well on these.

Everything works in Vista for me.... CS:S = -100 fps compared to XP but 70 to 100 fps works just fine.

I couldn't save my control panel settings in any of the driver versions. If I closed nvidia control panel after changing a profile then it was gone when I reopened.

SOLUTION: I pressed shift and right clicked and chose "Run as..." when I opened NVIDIA Control panel. And finally my changes remained even when I closed control panel.

Does everyone have to do this or is there something wrong with my Vista setup??

Dualview doesn't work properly. I have connected my 7800GTX to TV with S-video-cable. I have set Dualview mode in the settings but when I set my LCD's Hertz from 60Hz->75Hz the TV won't show any picture. I thought Dualview were supposed to work separately on different settings. Any clue how can I use my LCD with 75Hz and still get picture from my TV? Different resolutions works fine but not the Hz thing.

tomb18 posted an easy fix for that here (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=89754).

Works great. :)

You either need to change permissions on nvapps.xml or turn off UAC.
See the above message.

Running Vista Premium and after installing these the fan on my 7600GT will not stop running at high speed. Anyone else having this problem.

(I tried searching the forum, but didn't find anything)

Any help would be appreciated!

These drivers make my cards run about 10c hotter. Anyone notice this on their system?

something i found that's weird with these drivers:

playing world of warcraft in a window is fine.. then once i click on, say my browser, then back into the game it stutters like crazy. no idea why this would be happening

yep, reverted back to the 101.70's and they work fine.. no stuttering in window mode with world of warcraft

Did you try to switch out/in a second time?
Played WoW for two years, over 200 days /played, and the game sometimes behaves strange if you alt+tab out of it or use the windowed mode. However, doing it a second time fixes this very often.
(Awakes terrible memories of a C'thun kill with somebody asking me something about a poem in icq while my grandmother felt like calling me. Oh well, and a very annoyed Gnaddel stating "Incombat Gnaddel at phase transition")

Back to 101.41, my card could fry my PC without fan control... well, it's about 10-15º that I recover with fan at top speed XD

Just FYI --

Not sure which card you are using, but I am using a single 7950 GX2 and do not have the issue you are having.

I often swap between full screen and windowed, and alt-tab all over the place. In fact, I'll even have two windowed WoW sessions running when I'm 2-boxing a second account.

Atm, I am in multi-display mode, since multi-GPU (SLI) will not work for me since I have 4GB of RAM.

i'd run the whole game in window mode.. never in full screen.. alt tab or just clicking outside of the active wow session then back into the game would cause it from that point on to stutter

im using a 7600gs pci-e card with 512mb ram on the video card

full screen mode would work fine.. alt tab back in and out and it would work great.. just using these new beta drivers in windowed mode made it stutter when i would be playing it in windowed mode and switching back and forth

but like i said, i reverted back to the older 101.70 and the issue isn't present anymore.. i dunno

Yes, but because I cant max out my fan......

I am thinking about powering the fan right off my PSU....

VSYNC doesn't work in STALKER with any set of NVIDIA drivers. I've tested it on XP x64 with and without the patch before finally ditching it and installing Vista. Same in Vista, it is the only game where VSYNC does nothing. I thought maybe they screwed up and made it to you had to untick VSYNC to get it working and again...nothing. Screen tearing blows.

Well, I like a silent machine. I don't want to speed up any fans unless I have to. It's just weird that these particular drivers have caused my cards to run hotter.

Yeah, these drivers would be great if we didn't lose fan control :thumbdwn:
