So take them with a grain of salt, but they weren't far off on the C2D benchies...

**EDIT** MOD please delete - Didn't see the thread in the other forum...

Seems like theyre panicing releasing benchies so far ahead of the release date. They must really want to try to make this seem like a solid chip before k8l comes to whipe up the mess.

lmfao, dude your AV and that statement match perfectly.

There is no benchmark setup so we don't know what memory or mobo
are the using...

the penryn in that bench has 13% more clock 50% more cache
and a faster Bus (1.3Ghz)
With that improvements the 15/25 % are justified but the 211% in
VirtualDub Divx only can be justified with the SSE4 optimizations
(probably the QX6800 is using an unoptimized version)

I wonder how much will cost that QuadCore at 3.33 Ghz :p

This seems like Deja Vu from a year ago. Here comes Penryn! Those Half-Life 2 scores are awesome!

Infos about the system:
Intel D975XBX2 Rev. 505
Dual-Channel (2x1GB) DDRII 800 5-5-5-15
ASUS EN8800GTX
300-GB-SATA-NCQ
Windows Vista 32 bit

Penryn and Yorkfield ftw!

btw a12ctic, it's K10 now.

Dude, why every single statement you have made is against Intel? You must really work for AMD :captnkill:

The game performance number is awesome.

Too bad, my AMD FX-55 has just died and I have to build a new PC, otherwise, I will wait and see which one is better: AMD K10 or Penryn. :( ... Going Intel seems to be a safe bet. I just buy cheap a Conroe chip after 4/22 and switch to Penryn later. I guess K10 and Penrym will perform the same, Penryn may consume less power... just a guess...

Will the current nVidia 600 series chipset support Penryn?

Thanks!

iirc benchies were released waaay ahead of conroes launch and everyone questioned them as real or not. Turns out they were.

K10 :p is going to have to be one big bada$$ som o no gun to compete.

Edit: I didn't notice in the article..any chance this could be a "mid-range" penryn, like they used a midrange conroe to beat up FX-60?

Fan boys are so cheesy... Both are good chip makers accept that, and choose between which one.

As for the guy who said they were panicking umm why would Intel or AMD panic? Do you realize how much money they make? They make money either way they go... perhaps it'd be a great idea to not make silly statements about either company.

Man yorkfield has more L2 cache than a lot of HDDs on the market...that's crazy.

Pretty decent read on penryn and nehalem at Hexus.

Nehalem is the Intel native-quad, right?

A kickass name for a kickass proc. That thing just sounds like it could rip through apps. That could be the name of the Grim Reaper it's so cool.

MeThinks I know who the first Nehalem owner on the board will be. :D

Nehalem will be a kickass CPU... it will feature an integrated memory controller, CSI and Hyper Threading!

AMD needs to get in gear and put some real quantifiable benchs out there ASAP.

I know. Intel did it with conroe I don't see what AMD have to hide. Unless its slower than Intel counterparts that is.

As long as it won't be a 24-bit CPU :p

Exactly what I think. Maybe that's why they're only talking about the 40% improvement in THEORY, but chances are, it's not as fast as they hoped for.
