Anyone know of a decent program to convert .MKV files to mpg, divx or DVD? I havn't been able to find anything...it's rather bothersome as .mkv files are becoming common for high def tv rips...

Thanks..

The only time I ever see MKV files are with anime, which i dont download very often.

Try this: http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&q=MKV+to+AVI&btnG=Google+Search

Nope, they are starting to do TV shows in .mkv now...The ones I have are 1-18 of Heroes (720p)...I'm not an anime (or hentai) fan at all, but a guy at work is, wich is probably why he knew what .mkv's were :)

**EDIT** Thanks T3h...err screw it..you know who you are...thats too damn hard to type :P I've tried all those though, and other than using 3-5 programs (I'm not about to do that on 18 files), I havn't found anything that's worked...I'm just lazy and want one app to do it...I wish NeroVision would hurry up and support the codec...Grrr..

I've used alltoavi (http://alltoavi.sourceforge.net/) in the past and it works quite well. The only tricky part sometimes is figuring out which audio/subtitle streams you need to use, but that's just a matter of a bit of trial and error.

I've been doing alot of this lately.

Found the perfect guide for you here.....

http://anime.nickistre.net/blog_entry/anime/2007/03/03/mkv_h_264_codec_to_avi_xvid_codec_conversion

Bottom line....

Extract the audio and video tracks using MKVExtractGui, then take it from there. Alot of the one click methods are rubbish.
