Yep my 7950 work very good SLI with a total of 1GB of Video memory (512 each). My old cards were 256 mb of mem so there are a tiny upgrade. If you have 7900GT series and you are getting any vertical screen corruption whatsoever RMA your cards! It is worth the 10 dollars to ship the cards to them. Always remember if they do not have any G70 stock they have to upgrade you to the next best thing G80... My clubmember had a problematic 7900 from XFX and they sent him an 8800 320mb.. You never know you may get really lucky!!

God, eVGA is soooo slow.

I sent my 7900GT to them on the 3rd, the My Product section showed that they received it on the 10th.

Mysteriously, the received date then changed to the 14th. I emailed them asking about that, which took two days to get a response. They said the server crashed, and they had to re-enter the info, and that everything was on schedule (funny, same thing happened to my friend a few months ago).

Now were closing in on two weeks since they received it, and it's still pending. I paid for a decent shipping option so I wouldn't have to wait long, but I didn't count on them taking half of august so far to process this.

Well, I just got my RMA back. They gave me a 7900GS for my 7900GT.

The best part is it also doesn't work. August wasted.

Dude DEMAND a new card, a totally different card... That is what did, I stated in my email to them I would not accept a 7900 of any kind... That got me a 7950, the better redesigned card.... Email Jacob Freeman directly jfreeman@evga.com and tell him your woes. He is an understanding person and should hook you up for your troubles. Please post here with your results....

Yea, I had called them within about 30 min of making that post.

The guy hooked me up with a premium advanced RMA, so I can get some cross-shipping, and said I would be getting a 7950. Hopefully the added wait time won't be too painful.

Good for you bro. The 7900 is inherently flawed in my opinion. I never had and issue with my 7800 series cards. Nvidia should recall all of them, but becuase their customer support is abysmal it does not surprise me that they have not.. It is all about the new cards and they forget about their loyal customers.

It most certainly is flawed.

I remember when I was looking into getting the card, I think I had read there was a recall for the original issuing of the 7900GTs, due to countless memory issues. I made sure when I picked mine that it was the updated model that was supposed to be free of the memory issues.

Apparently not, however. Even under WinXp I saw the vertical corruption a few times. I suppose the way drivers in Vista work ended up exposing the fact that the issues are still present.

Being that the 7900GS is just an underclocked version of the GT (I think), it makes sense that the issue exists with them aswell. The whole 7900 lime is lemons.

Guys,

My card is also EVGA 7900GT and was trying out Vista last week and observed the same corruption while changing resolutions or coming out of standby. I have not tried any fixes, but do u guys think RMA is in order? The card works fine in XP on every game, etc. Did not try any of the suggest fixes. You guys think its truly a hardware bug or software bug?

Yes, definitely RMA it. The entire 7900 line is flawed, anyone else who reads this that owns one will likely need to RMA their card at some point aswell.

There are no fixes to try, beyond getting a new card.

RMA the card.. Trust me, it's the only way to remedy the problem. My replacement card, 7950gt KO works just fine under Vista. Just make sure you don't get anything less than that for your replacement.

Just be ready to wait a while. A long while.

eVGA feels no rush when doing RMAs. It seems as if you're stuck on one step for a week, before moving to the next step and waiting another week. It's especially bad being on the opposite coast from them. Took from August 1st till the 24th for my first RMA, which ended up being a waste of time. Paid for 3-day shipping from eVGA too (almost $20).

I submitted the new RMA on Monday the 27th. It didn't get approved until Friday the 31st (lol@1 day to process). Once it got approved, I sumbitted them creditcard info needed for the cross-ship. Now it's tuesday September the 4th, and still nothing has happened yet.

So like I said...be prepared for a hefty amount of downtime due to the speed of their service. I knew it was a good idea waiting until I could borrow a friends spare to do this.

I'm currently experiencing the same prob. I think it's been a little bit more than a month.

Well I returned my EVGA 7900GT, got my replacement 7 days after they received it. 7950GT everything works fine.

My issue was fixed by running Rivatuner at start and overclocking the memory by 5mhz. That seems very odd that overclocking the memory would fix this strange issue but others suggested it and appears to work. So for those not willing to do the RMA thing at this time or gonna do it after upgrading etc, this is might be the ticket. When my next card (8800 or 9800 or whatever is available) is purchased, i'll probably RMA this one back in although I have debated just flashing the bios with new clocks and let it go since you guys say the RMA process is very slow.

So today I give eVGA a call since my RMA appeared to be stuck in RMA-limbo. The guy I talk to says its packed and shipping out today. I then ask him what card is being sent to me..he checks and says...7900GT. W T F !

I tell him the whole story about how it won't work. Doesn't seem to register with him. I say that if they send me that card, I guarantee that it won't work, and I'll end up having to submit a third friggin RMA within an hour of receiving it. He tells me they send out equivelent cards, only better if none are available. We go back and forth on that point about 5 times before I give up. I ask to speak to a supervisor and apparently no ones around. I end up hanging up.

For some reason, it didn't occur to me to ask him to halt shipping the RMA until I can speak to a supervisor, so I end up calling back 10 min later. I get some other dude, and explain things to him. Puts me on hold, and about 5 minutes later, he says he had his buddy in shipping switch the card for a 7950 and it will still ship today. He also said they put a prepaid shipping label to send back the 7900GS with. On top of that, for all the annoyance/inconvience, he says he'll hook me up with my choice of game: Quake4, Dark Messiah, or Hitman: Bloodmoney.

Soooo...assuming the card did indeed get switched out, my saga will hopefully come to a close.

I don't know whether I have bad luck or good at this point. Oy.

What is the part number on your guy's card? Is it N584? If so I believe I have a fix but I need some help in verifying it. It is a BIOS update, can you send me a PM?

Ahaha, so my card arrives yesterday, and it is indeed the 7950 the guy had switched out for me at the last moment.

Plug it in, boot up...and I got lines all over the POST/windows loading screens, but it boots into Windows. Update drivers, restart...and get stuck in a boot loop, which I managed to get out of and into windows somehow. Things were fine for a bit, played a bunch of games, but I had that good ole nagging feeling.

I try rebooting and...I'm never able to boot into windows again, card is dead. Some people got all the luck...I don't. Started this whole RMA process at the beginning of August, now mid-September and I'm back at square one. Unbelievable.
