I have tried to read lots of the posts but they are mixed and hard to judge in regard to comparing both drivers. Stability is btw my preference, a few framerates more or less doesnt really bother me.

I always try to for the official nvidia drivers from either the main site or Nzone. UNLESS the 'unofficial' drivers have something I need.

My suggestion is to stick with the Nvidia site drivers (158.18) for now.

165.01 has strange artifacts on certains effects in oblivion if you run hdr+aa, so if you care about that game 158.18 is the better driver

I was skeptical about 165.01. After testing both 165.01 FTW IMO!:D

I can confirm this. The ghosts on suicide hill in "The Shivering Isles" have "flashing white boxes around them" that are not present with the 158 driver.

165.01 is a faster driver I believe. But C&C3 doesnt work with it, so I'm sticking with 158.18.

I'd say the 158.18 is best only because I couldn't get the 165.01's to install, even after uninstalling/rebooting/driver cleaner, etc. It would start installing, my screen would go black and beep, and I'd have to hard reboot it and it would come back up with the drivers half installed. So I went back to 158.18 and haven't looked back.

158.18 is better. 165.01 loses for me, at least, because I can't get SLI to work and it causes a few games to CTD.

Didn't the 165 drivers cause problems with openGL anyhting??

Yeah, I couldn't get any OpenGL apps to run with 165.01. So I've been running 158.18 since it came out and have been crash free.

Confirmed. 165.01 = no OpenGL for me either. 158.18 runs OpenGL very sweet.

Have not done a comparison between these two yet, but fyi, 165.01 gave me 20-40fps more than 101.41 with BF2142 under Vista64. I will check what 158.18 gives me with BF2142 under Vista64 later.

No matter though - no OpenGL is a no-go for me, so 165.01 are shelved.

165's ran great here, but eventually 2142 started to crash.
Unless it;s something else, I went to 158's to check them out, so far pretty good, a little slower then the 165's but hopefully more stable.......

using the 158.19 drivers...

no errors in burnintest...

but i have massive slowdowns in stalker and i have graphics anomalies in c&c3 on the ground...

is this a driver issue? is my psu not up to the task?

my mobo is an a8n-sli deluxe

is it ok to use the lower pcie16 slot instead of the upper? i plugged in power on EZ plug because if i dont use it, the sli warning light turns red. but i didnt reversed the ez selector coz im just using a single card, not sli. is this a right choice?

help me guys... :(

What I'd like to know is what the hell happened to 1280*960 in the 158.18 drivers?

As my monitor's native resolution is 1280*960, running the monitor on 1280*1024 looks distorted and blurry.

Not sure which one is better because I've only used the 165.01 in the 32 bit version of Vista. CnC3 is the only game I'm playing now and that works fine for me; no crashes no hangs and no slowdown that I can see.
