This is my computer:
E6600 @ 3.5Ghz (cooled via Hyper TX)
8800GTS @ 513Mhz/1524MHz (Basically stock)
2GB DDR2-770 (5-5-5-15)
Seagate 7200.10 320GB
Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Other hardware:
CM Stacker 830 (4x120 on side panel, 1x120 on top, and 1x120 on back)
Enermax 620W
Lite-ON 20x DVD Burner
ASUS P5N-E SLI
My 3DMark '06 score is 9033. Does that seem right for this system? My FEAR average FPS is 57 (low 31, high 60). Is that normal? (I have maximum in-game settings for everything and I'm running it at 1280x1024.) It seems too low, compared to some people with similar systems getting 70, 80, or even higher.
I've messed with almost every driver released. On some, I get 65FPS/77FPS. However, when I try to go back to those, I still get 57FPS. Right now, I am using 158.18.
Thanks!

With Vista that could be close to right, I don't know for sure but from what I read Vista is mostly slower then XP for the most part, only a few games excel in Vista right now.

Right. I was just wondering if it is close to someone with a similar system or my settings are screwed up.

I'd say that's about right. With vol. lighting and shadows off, 8xAF and NVs 16xAA I average around 40/47/60 almost every time @ 1920x1200.
Now take into account your proc pwns mine, and my gts is clocked higher than yours, I'd guess your doing ok.

OK, good. Those higher FPS ones that I got earlier were probably just at lower settings then. I had some trouble with those accursed profiles, I can tell you.
Thanks!

Have you set permissions in your profiles so they're remembered? If not check out this (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=89754). Makes it easier.

I just did that. Does it require a system restart?
For some reason, it had given me 16X Anisotropic, which is what I had set in game. So does that give me 16X or 32X?
Now, for whatever reason, it has gone back to application-controlled. Now I know these two things mean pretty much the same thing, but which should I set it at:
Use Global Setting (Application-Controlled)
OR
Application-Controlled
?
Thanks!
~Ibrahim~
It didn't require a restart for me, or really change anything other than my settings would actually stay where I put them, blasted profiles! :p
I think...may be wrong..but I think, if you don't specify otherwise the games settings are in effect. So it would still be 16x.
I'm finding 16XAA forced through the control panel, and other settings handled by the game to be my best combination.
I use fraps to find my best fps in known trouble areas, lot of trial and error playing with settings really.

Yeah, I think that is what it is going to take. A lot of trial and error. Thanks for all your help!

Yw..Best of luck with it. :)

Thanks! I'm going to email the maker, see if they can make anything of it. Just in case.

That 3dmk06 score does seem low. Something to compare with 10,069:

I don't think the xfx8800gtx xxx would make up the the differences, plus a thousand points, for our systems.

Actually, that score looks right on for an 8800GTX.

Courtesy of VR-Zone. Your OC, however, still didn't catch the stock 8800GTX there. Must be Vista hurting the score.
It says 'Project Invalid', but I assume you're running Vista x64?

The link works now. I had to log back onto futuremark. I'm also running an oc fx-60 too.

Link doesn't work (do I need to be a member?), no matter.
Right, 3DMark '06 is all about graphics. Maybe not some parts. Most of it is, however. You simply have a faster GPU...
~Ibrahim~
P.S. Sure, the CPU does play a hefty part, but it should be mostly GPU-intensive.
