How can i change the fan speed on my 8800? i see people wanting to change it cause of temps...shouldent the g80 up its fan automatically when it starts getting hot instead of always being at a certain percent?

ExperTool from Gainward will change the fan speed on the 100.65 drivers and a few others.... fan control is broken with the 158.18's... bad driver set IMO.

Ya, I have been using this site for years.. its a great place to get advice and also help others out :) I think the card will throttle up on its own... but the threshold for that is pretty high from my understanding and most of us are not big fans of heat that can easly be removed with increasing the fan speeds :p Im sure your card will be fine without the control, just know the ability is there but for some reason they decided to break it with the newest driver set on Vista.

I am using Rivatuner at the moment. I set my fans to run at a constant 80% as opposed to the default 60%. It is not that much louder than at 60% and it drops the temperature on my video cards about 5c so I am content.

Right on the money. I use the older drivers for that exact reason. Nvidia drivers these days are totally borked IMO.

Really? At 100% mine is pretty quiet... but then again after having my old AGP 6800GT for so long any fan sounds quiet now :p

80c is a ok temp for a 8800, however my gpu never rises past 70c!

Yes, to add support for the lower end 8500 8600 cards. Not sure whether or not it will be Vista compatible though.
