Radeon X2900 XT final price to be $450?
http://it-review.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1288&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=0
If AMD decided to increase the price from $399 to $450, up by $50. It probably to do something with weaken dollar or Q1 2007 $611m loss.
Not a bad price at all. In rip off Britain this would probably be over £300 though. I wonder how much the xtx hd or whatever its called is priced at.

I'd like to see the top of the line card 2900xtx with 1 gb gddr4. I'll be switching to intel later this year so maybe something different in the video card dept might be nice also, unless it's a total dog,but i doubt that. I think driver support will be key.

Hmmm well when I checked the price at xe.com, it translated $450 = £225, I am very surprised it very cheap. I realised it because of stronger pound mean cheap prices. Good news it not rip off Britain, bad news for USA expensive prices with weaken dollar. But it still possible for retailers to charge over £300 to get large profits.
What he was getting at is that it's rarely ever a direct currency conversion. So no, it probably won't be £225.

Hmm... why not compare it to the GTX ???? (lee63)
XT is set to be the same price range as GTS. XTX will be compared to the GTX

Because the HD 2900XT is the competitor of the GTS- not the GTX. Would you compare an X1900 to a 7900GTX or a 7950GX2? No- you compare it to a card of the same (or similar) $$$ value. The HD 2900XTX is what AMD has to compete with the GTX.
I must say, I'm rather impressed and pleased with the results thus far. I'm, ofcourse, going to wait for some more concrete benchmarks before I develope any opinion- but I really do like what I see. If the XTX offers a similar (or better) performance advantage over the GTX- then I just might go dual HD2900XTXs in CrossFire. :firedevil
Oh, and those coolers look sexy as ever.
It will be interesting to see if only having 512MB will have much of a negative effect when super high resolution with AA comes into play. It would be pretty bad if the 8800GTS pulls ahead in 1600x1200 4xAA and above.
Hmm not bad though we have to point that the GTS has more VRAM.
i'm still more interested in the GTX/Ultra vs the XTX fight.

Who wants to bet that Nvidia will drop prices on the GTS/GTX when the 2900XT hits shelves?
And why use 1280x1024 resolution? This benchmark is worthless.
ATI is really screwing themselves by holding off on the XTX until Q3. That'll be nearly 9 months since the release of 8800GTX, and you just know that 9 months has given Nvidia enough time to come up with something stronger to counter it with.
Not looking good for these guys. I want them to get back in the game, but the outcome looks bleak right now.

Interesting numbers but I wonder why they choose 1280x1024 as the resolution to test?

we were not supplied a monitor for testing higher resolutions.
Finally some leaks/info from Tunis. :)
I read the DailyTech review.. and first thing that came to mind is that th 2900XT should really be compared to the 8800GTX. The 2900XTX is not even available for the next 2 to 3 months. And when you do a comparison, you match the best of one company has to offer against the best of the another. Today and now... the best ATI can produce is the 2900XT. If you disagree with my view, fine... but I can't tell you how many reviews I read in the past 6 months since the 8800 series were released that included the 1950XTX... I mean isn't that silly to compare a DX 9 card to DX 10 ? Well, not neccessarily when that's the best ATI had to offer then. Now we finally have ATI's first batch of DX10 cards and the best they can offer (after 6 month delay) is the 2900XT.... that's a joke... By the time the 2900XTX comes out Nvidia will be onto the next generation... should we then say well you can't compare the 8900 because really ATI's response won't be out until December... etc. etc... that's my rant for today...!!!
Loving those call of duty 2 numbers. I will be getting one of these when they go retail.

Q3? :wtf: Don't think one should believe something fudzilla posted. Expect AMD to pull the wraps off its DirectX 10 product line up in mid-May, with value, midrange and high end models to boot. AMD’s flagship ATI Radeon HD 2900-series will have two models at launch – the ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX and the HD 2900 XT. The ATI Radeon HD 2900 XTX models feature 1GB of GDDR4 memory while the lower HD 2900 XT features 512 MB.

I'm not that impressed with those numbers. That's what I've expected. I mean those cards are so late to the game, they have to be faster!
Can't wait to see some more useful benchmarks from the XT and XTX at 1600x1200 or higher.

I am not really very impressive with 2900 XT numbers, surprised to see Geforce 8800GTS 640MB are on par with 2900 XT with 4 benchmarks. It seem everbody completed forgetten about 8800 Ultra, when it launch, Nvidia sure will reposition 8800GTX to easy compete with 2900 XT and 8800GTS 640MB to compete with 2900 XL.
Dailytech corrected an error with Half Life 2: Episode 1 scored 57.4 FPS on 8800GTS compared to 112.0 FPS on 2900 XT, Dailytech reran the benchmark on 1280x1024 resolution, the correct score for 8800GTS is 119.2FPS.
* Our benchmarks for Half Life 2: Episode 1 showed an abnormal framerate for the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS card that scaled with lower resolutions -- we believe there was a copy error. We reran the tests this morning and achieved 119.2 frames per second with the GeForce 8800 GTS.
A 512 bit X2900 XT losing to 320 bit 8800GTS in Half Life 2: Episode 1 benchmark.

We really can't know what the real performance of the card is until we see some REAL banchmarks done by a reputable site. They ran the benchmarks at 1280x1024, which already makes those benchmarks pretty much useless. We need to keep in mind also that these benchmarks were run on early drivers and that the final ones might bring some 10% increase in performance. :)
And i for one dont care what the card does in older games, its the future that mathers.
