View Full Version : Blu-ray Disc Sales Surpass One Million Milestone
At least the competing press releases keep us entertained. :)
Today's BDA press release points out that not only did Blu-ray reach this milestone before its high-def rival, but it did so in less than a year. The "less than a year" part is particularly notable since the HD DVD camp marked the end of its first year on the market last week by trumpeting a series of accomplishments in its own press release.
The Blu-ray release also includes newly released sales figures from tracking firm Home Media Research, which show continued sales momentum for Blu-ray, with the format accounting for 70% of all high-definition movies sold during the first three months of this year, with that lead growing each month since the first of the year.

Other then owning a PS3 I really support neither... I own like 4 Blu-Ray movies... I would have HD-DVD movies if I had a player but I don't and everyone says the X360 Addon looks like crap and has Sound issues.

Weird...how does Fox own Firefly but Universal own Serenity? Isn't the IP all the same?

No, It was shot in widescreen originally. FOX wanted it in Full Frame but Wedon forced them into widescreen by having the actors stand at a distance.
FOX only owns the rights to the name, not the actual content so they made the movie and insted of calling it Firefly, they called it Serenity to get around the copyright issue.
Have you ever seen the series? Its probably one of the best Scifi series I have ever seen.

I don't see why they wouldn't. The series sold so well on DVD that they made the movie. So I wouldn't dout it would sell very well on an HD Format.

No, Universal just owns the Serenity name... neither own the IP, Wedon does... which is why he can license it out for comics and a game (a MMORPG is planned to release next year).

Yeah, I have the Firefly DVDs and they're widescreen so at least that's not an issue.
