just got the cheapest Nforce2 board I could possibly find, with just a couple of questions now it's installed:

No matter what I set the CPU voltage at, it still reads around 1.79v, which is a bit of a pain!

the temps also seem screwed, as when its idling, with an 80mm YS Tech on my TaiSol, it sits around 51C, when I overclock a fair amount, it gets very similar. Even if I turn on all the fans (VERY loud), it makes almost no difference.

With my old KX7-333R with all the fans going with THIS cpu, it used to get around 39C....

:(

updated BIOS to latest version didnt make a diff tho...

any thoughts?

what are you using to monitor voltages/temps?

MSI PCAlert 4, and the BIOS readings, both give same results...

by the way, i set my voltage at 1.55 volts, still reads @ 1.8 odd, stupid board....

Those 50*c+ temps are normal for this board. Im using the ILSR version and mine idles at about 55*c - 57*c and full load makes little difference.

Your old KX7-333R had a thermal sensor just underneath the CPU to measure the temperate of the core. The new boards take the reading directley from the core which is why it apears hotter.

that explains the temp then... what about the strange voltage?

That im not sure of. I would suggest though updating the BIOS to the latest (if you havent already) and asking here (http://www.nforcershq.com) in the MSI section on the forums. A mod from the official MSI forums hangs out there so im sure someone will help.
