Hi there.
I am generally very happy with my Radeon 9700 Pro.
But although the IQ of the 2D is excellent, I have noticed that when I scroll a document or move windows around the desktop, it gets a bit jaggedy around the edges & generally does not look like it is being accelerated by dual 400Mhz DACs.
Smartgart is enabled at AGP 4x with fast writes on. Anyone have the same problem? System spec below;

Happens all the time:confused:
2d on mine is EXCELLANT. Have you done any tweaking to the drivers (Rage 3D Tweaker,etc.)? Is it o\c'd? Try uninstalling and reinstalling Catalyst drivers. Check DXdiag Direct Draw. Check 2D display AFTER reinstalling v\c drivers BEFORE you do any tweaking. Try turning FAST WRITES off.

You try something funny with smartgart? I edited smartgart registry keys and reproduced most problems people have, such as the one you are having. :lol:
Makes me wander what other people are doing in the registry? ;)

thx man, always wondered if i should have that on or not.:)
I don't have any problem with Fast Writes being on or off with my system, mine was on. But it peaked my curiosity to see which way was faster, so I did a few select quickie tests with 3D Mark 2001 (high polygon, multitexture fill rate) and I found I got higher scores with Fast Wries OFF. The AGP aperture best setting turned out to be 64. I even played with AGP Drive Strength, that worked out best set at auto. So I now have Fast Writes set to OFF.
