I've been looking but the only decent alternative solutions are for the 8800GTS, but I I'm looking for GTX coolers. I've looked on google but the topics I found generally go off-topic after the first 2 posts.

I am aware of that one, the one I'm trying to avoid as it will render my X-fi soundcard unusable.

My last PCI slot is available using a single HR03 Plus with a 8800GTX on the BX2. It would be problematic if you needed more than one PCI slot. The below link shows a 8800 with a HR03 Plus installed on a Evga 680i motherboard and the last PCI slot is open. It's close but doable. See reply #9-

I have the Thermalright HR-03 Plus with AS5 on my GTS, there good.... easy to install and 5x better than the stock cooling(i had my stock cooler at 85% fan speed and it still only cooled my card to 53c idle), i paid £35.19 inc VAT ... i have the Zalman ZM-F2 92mm Silent Fan it spins at 1600RPM at at stock and cools the GTS to around 48c idle and its never gone over 60c under load(never passed 57c to be exact) ..... just ordered me the zalman fan mate 2 to wack the fan speed up alittle, get it even cooler!
These are terrific coolers. Also, for SLi it is possible to run both and keep 1 open PCI slot. All you do is mount the fan across the sides of both coolers and the air blows down onto both of them with one fan. It will still get very good results.

So, do you guys think an HR-03 Plus would last more than one generation? If I can get one and use it on my 8800 and then use it on my next card as well, it'd be worth it.
