nVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go on Laptop with RH8

Hi
i have a Problem with different resolutions on my laptop
whatever i enter in Modes Section .. i have 640x480 and 800x600

i tried
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSection

with Strg + Alt + [num] + oder - i can change between 800x600 and 640x480 whatever i enter in the Modes Line

if i change the Driver to vesa i can use 1024x768

i followed the installation doc exactly but here are my Loads

Load "dbe"
Load "extmod"
Load "fbdevhw"
Load "glx"
Load "record"
Load "freetype"
Load "type1"

can anybody Help me ?

I used Redhat 8.0 3.2-7 with XFree 4.2.0-72 and kernel 2.4.18-14

First, let me make sure I understand the question. You can't use 1024x768, even when it's in the Modes line, right? If this isn't the problem, you're going to have to explain it again. :)

If it is the problem, is there a message in the log file about "not using mode 1024x768 -- " followed by some reason why?

No ..
no Log Entry for error in /var/log/XFree86.0.log

any idea ?
