Well, it looks like Sony is beating Nintendo & Microsoft's pricing for the most part. Looks like most PS1 era games go for $6? I don't have a PS3 to verify, but that is what I'm reading. Makes $10 for an N64 era game seem a bit steep. And the perpetual rip off that has been "micro transactions" for Xbox Live seem downright sad. They even added the ability to play them on the PS3 itself instead of loading them onto a PSP.

So I guess a lot of my issues with the PS3 are going away. Aside from there being no games I want to play on it :/

Anybody know if the models being sold in America still have the PS2 hardware embedded in them as opposed to software emulation? I'd hate to get stuck with gimped emulation since thats mostly what I'd be doing.

Im sure there are still some on the shelf that have the old board but I wouldn't see them lasting long. No way to tell either.

As for pricing, Sony seems to be good on it all the way around when it comes to downloads, not just PSX games. MK2 and Gauntlet were only $5 and not gimped in anyway (you know forcing you to buy more levels to have a full experiance).

Sony's system gives the most bang for your buck, it's to be expected.

1st, they give you the most powerful system, most reliable system, the best graphics, solid-ass ps1and 2 backwards compatibility, a bd-video player, and technically a few hundred back (at least when the ps3 launched in the U.S.) Then, they give you the online service free, then if you live in europe they give you at least 1 copy of casino royale on BD-video, then they charge less than Nintendo does for downloading classics.

It really comes down to whether or not people want to be ripped of their **** by nintendo or if they want to accept a damn good offer from sony.

The initial price tag may not be $599, but in the long run it's going to cost you more, ultimately because Nintendo quite likely won't be able to handle sony.

You'd might be able to tell if they say made in japan, b/c I think only the first ones were made in japan.
