I have two devices there, my mouse and my keyboard... Don't think it is a good idea to try and disable them, lol. Maybe others have extra ones.
Thanks for the tip, however...
Tried renaming: nothing. Still averaging 58FPS, which I guess is good. 100% over 40 (or whatever that number is).
So, soft shadows don't work? Am I losing FPS for nothing, then?

if you average 58fps, then you don't have HIDs issue.
when HIDs are causing problems, performance drop is a lot more.
for me it drops from 100+ to 15fps

I was plagued by this same issue for weeks after installing Vista, it happened both in Vista32 and Vista64 and both with my 7900GT and then my 8800GTS. It all went away once I installed some unreleased 158.10 driver, and ever since then it runs perfect. I did try doing all sortsa stuff before that like disabling my Logitech G15 software, mouse software, uninstalling the HID devices, etc and nothing helped. Something about those magical drivers fixed it. I've installed multiple drivers since, including the latest, and it's still smooth as silk now.
