Better than 165.01?
i was complaining about LCDs too, but now i would never go back
Same here. I used to hate them. I don't miss my big ol' 19" Dell CRT at all. Damn thing could heat a small house! :D
That would be kewl and all, but as far as I know, overclock doesn't work since quite a few drivers back, the overclock shows but doesn't stick, once you reboot it resets to default.............other 3d stuff works still though.
Yeah your right - I use Rivatuner to OC and assumed coolbits still worked..just tried it myself and it does return to default after a reboot..oh-well

Has anyone else experienced lockups with Source engine based games with these drivers? I am having hardlocks when loading levels with both Dark Messiah and HL2 with these drivers. My machine freezes for a few minutes before giving an BSOD infinite loop error.

Same here. I was in the CRT camp for the longest time. Picked up my 19" Westinghouse LCD, and now I'm LCD all the way. LCDs seem to have "brighter" color to me.
CRTs give me a headache now.
I haven't seen much comment on using 8500/8600 with these drivers yet.
I tried them on an 8600GT and still no H.264 decode yet.
Supposed to be scheduled for a June release though.
CP is more responsive and so far no obvious issues.
Systray icon is a bit odd looking on a 1680x1050 monitor.

well i wrote to Nvidia about tom clancy´s splinter cell double agent.
i have now been asked to send them my systeminfo and i will install latest
direct X and also send it to them.
one should think a company thath big should have someone who can test this game on a Vista as well as on XP a with 8800 cards to see this problems and start to investigate why it is so.
anyone here who can tell me why sam looks like **** and for that matter not at all is it when i have supersampling 32xs or mutli 8xq is it purley hardware issue or is it also in need of a patch to fix this issue mine is not playable as i can´t see sam at all just weapons goggles.
rest of sam is just messed up graphics
well let me know before i mail and how doe is it run in Vista?
I would just go ahead and email them with some screen caps for examples.

Well, I bit the bullet last night and decided to give these a try. Its a good set despite the CP problems.

Well, despite my 3dmark05 going from 8200 (84.66) to 7888 (160.03), gameplay feels a bit smoother. Not faster, but smoother. Much less on the stuttering; I used to get it alot in FEAR, but not so much with this driver.

Yes these are better for me across the board, less stuttering and slightly better iq in tdu ,ut2004 runs smooth, same with oblivion. And not even one hickup or bluescreen since installing these, keepers for me:)

I tried these out on my new 8800GTX as soon as I put it in my system and something very strange happened. In the new control panel I accidentally clicked "Run display optimization window" and canceled out. Then I accidentally clicked it again, except the second time my entire screen turned red except for the mouse pointer. Canceled out again and kept fidgeting with settings to try to get it to go away and it would not. A few seconds later my display turned extremely dark and I could barely see anything. Rebooted and it was still like that (but only after logging in; the BIOS, boot screen, and login prompt were normal brightness).
I managed to squint my way through uninstalling them and then installed the 158.22 officials. I'll probably stick with those until a new 160 series driver comes out.

Quick little Fraps test I did with these 160.03's and 8456, and the 9424's that were official for about 5 minutes, then pulled/moved.
Tomb Raider Legend 30 second run from main room looking at fireplace into pool room and through the pool. 1152x864 (I have a little 19" CRT monitor), all in game settings maxed without next gen.
2007-05-18 14:02:35 - trl - 9424
Frames: 5065 - Time: 30000ms - Avg: 168.833 - Min: 93 - Max: 328
2007-05-18 14:33:53 - trl - 160.03 (-24 FPS? Ouch!)
Frames: 4335 - Time: 30000ms - Avg: 144.500 - Min: 89 - Max: 224
2007-05-18 14:51:04 - trl - 8456 (my usual driver)
Frames: 4689 - Time: 30000ms - Avg: 156.300 - Min: 97 - Max: 254
2007-05-18 15:03:30 - trl - 160.03 (double checked this one because it had bad results)
Frames: 4363 - Time: 30000ms - Avg: 145.433 - Min: 92 - Max: 224
Conclusion: The 9424's have no new control panel (WOOT!) and a decent performance gain over my usual 8456 driver (still used because I despise the new garbage control panel). The 160.03's performance was 24 fps lower than 9424, they have only the new CP, and not even temperature monitoring. IE: they're crap in my case. The 9424 is my new driver!
Well none of the new nvidia CP has temp monitoring AFAIK.
For some stupid reason it's been integrated into nvtune which is dumb due to the fact that not everyone runs these cards on an nvidia chipset board.
That makes nvtune overkill and useless in such cases. And besides, it's been noted more than a few times how nvtune seems to make systems unstable as it is.
Continuous buggy drivers or missing features aside, it's the worst decision nvidia has made in regards to new drivers.
However, I can get temp monitoring by enabling the "classic" control panel via the coolbits registry hack or by using everest.
Everest tends to be my main source of temp information these days.
As I have an 8800GS SLI setup and an 8600GT, 94.24 isn't an option.
My PCIe 6600GT has been retired to the junk bin (as well as all my other old Nvidia AGP boards).
Hi all, first time post here (nana2)
Okay, so I tested those and the 158.22's, and then compared them.
My system is:
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ @ 2.42 Ghz 220x11
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-SLi Premium BIOS 1009
Memory: OCZ PC-3200 EL Platinum 2GB 2.5-3-2-5 1T @ 440 Mhz
GPU: ASUS EN8800GTS 640MB @ Stock
PSU: Antec NeoHE 550
That's with Windows XP SP2 32-Bit.
In 3DMark06, no AA, no AF (default 3DMark06 benchmark settings), and my Intellisamples setting was set at Performance for Direct3D, under RivaTuner's D3D settings.
With 158.22, score = 8244
With 160.03, score = 8206
Technically speaking, in terms of frames-per-seconds, the Proxycon, Forest and such tests weren't even separated by a single frame difference, it was around 0.4'ish FPS more for the 158.22's, very negligible. And the total CPU score was negligibly higher for the 160.03's, by around 40 Marks.
For me, they are the same as far as performance goes. In terms of image quality it's very difficult to say, I believe it's the exact same thing. So far no crashes, no over-heats, no hangs/freezes, no strange CP behaviors or non-responsiveness, no problems during installation, everything is smooth and under control, very solid, stable drivers.
I will keep 160.03 installed since I got no issues, no performance loss, no IQ loss, and perhaps that since they are newer then maybe potential issues in specific games were fixed, that I am not aware of, and such things of course cannot be noticed in benchmarks, so I will keep them.

Much worse performance in Oblivion with these drivers, the sudden FPS drops that sometimes occurs for me were more frequent. Downloaded the 158.22 and they seem better.
Been looking for solid drivers for my XFX 7950GT AGP (yes, I'm stuck with AGP) and these are the first that have no stuttering. I like 'em...
...except that now anything but High-Def QuickTime videos end up being a set of blurred red lines. DivX, Xvid and WMV's are fine in WMP. HD QT/MOVs are likewise fine in the QuickTime viewer. But non-HD stuff blows badly. Anyone see a similar issue when viewing non-HD content on www.apple.com/trailers?
With a 8600GT I can play the QT HD content from their website fine.
Using version 7.1.6 of QT.
And yea, no decode acceleration of course.
My previous arguments against LCD's were literally wiped away when I saw the quality of picture of my current LG.
If you think thats impressive you should take a gander at a S-IPS or high end S-PVA screen from say Nec.
Ok been using these for a while. Causing major issues with nvcp selection of AA and AF and in game as well.
As noted in the benchmarking section and g80 vs r600 thread. I had major slow downs on my PC, when I selected AA and AF through the nvcpl. Ie it would be lower. If I selected through the in game settings, the performance would be higher. If i selected AA and AF through the nvcpl while leaving in game AA and AF settings off, the fps would bomb.
Sorry, this happened for FEAR. I didn't test / haven't tested with other games yet.
I dunno what can cause this bug.

Have you tried the 158.22s? Our systems are similar and the 158.22s seem to work pretty well for me.
