THE GUYS FROM TECHLAND are preparing quite a treat for owners of DirectX 10 graphics cards. Call of Juarez, a really nifty first person shooter set in wild west, when America was run by Smith & Wesson and Winchester - will get a hefty graphics upgrade.
We're not sure when the game itself will get upgraded to DX10 goodness, but we learned that the company will ship a DirectX 10 benchmark really soon, probably in next couple of weeks.

Given the current lack of DirectX 10 titles that would enable hacks to benchmark the bloody graphics cards with API they support natively, this is a welcoming news.

Since the patch should be free, if you own a DX10 graphics card, you could consider buy the game using on-line download service - located in our complementary l'inq section.

news from inq, hope its true

this will be one hell of a suprise when a small Polish developer will be the first with DX10 benchmark, and maybe first DX10 game :)

I'd care, but I won't have DX10 capabilities for at least 6 more months.

I most interested to see a comparision of two visually identical games (DX9 and DX10) and see their FPS difference.

Everything you read seems to be about image quality and effects of DX10 but the best thing could will end up being the giant peformance difference.

The standard comparison:
DX9

vs. DX10

Just an FYI, the DX10 "Screenshot" of FSX is actually an "Artists Rendition" of what the DX10 version SHOULD look like...I'm not sure it's all that far off though, but I just wanted to point that out...

I am tired of waiting for this game to come out here. Does anyone know somewhere online to order the import version?

((lee63) don't count)

Check the Link in the first post or the official game website, you can buy it online. I'll do that if there will really be a dx10 patch!

Maybe they'll fix the bug where you have to Alt+Tab back and forth out of the game at launch in Vista to be able to get any reponse :thumbdwn:

It looks pretty cool, but the video can't really do justice for what it must look like when actually playing the game. It should be a pretty good looking title, but from the benchies it sounds like 8800GTX SLI is about the only way your going to play it with AA and AF.

I wouldn't go that far just yet. Maybe I missed it but, I didn't see anywhere as to what CPU was being used, at what speed, how much System memory again..at what speed, and how about OC'ing a single card...

An 8800 GTX may very well be CPU limited here. If he's using an e6600 @ stock speeds, cranking it up to 3.2gig may make a pretty decent sized difference. This article doesn't really list enough to base overall DX10 performance on. If it had included some SLI scores it definitely would have helped point out if it's GPU or CPU challenged.

An interesting side note/idea: a game like Crysis which is originally coded in DX10 might perform a bit better than a game like this that uses a patch...possibly..maybe?? If not, looks like I'll be putting both my 640MB GTS's in one rig and moving quadcore.

It's probably also to do with a lack of drivers. Now that the DX10 race has been won (thanks CoJ for benchmark and Lost Planet for Demo), we should see more and more which update the performance.
