FIOS is still too expensive as i think.. i think my 780KB Cable speed is still fast enough for me :D

thats the place i work.
Why does everyone overlook ATT's fiber network?
Because they only have Fiber to the node which means they rely on copper to get to your house. That equals crap TV and crap internet. the really need to wake up and start pushing fiber to the home if they want to compete in the near future, let alone the next 15 - 20 years.
6/1 lol... wtf is that all about Uverse! :thumbdwn:

And these are the values at home.

Yeah copper sucks, that's why you can run 10G on it. :headexplode:

An HFC network can be every bit as good as pure fiber if it is managed properly. Think about this for a second - at some point within your own home, you are going from fiber to copper regardless of what is outside of your own home. Does this automatically imply a sh*tty internet connection?

Well if you use some of the newer technologies, such as channel bonding, you can get insane amounts of bandwidth from copper over very long distances.

The problem with at&t's whole fiber deal is that they are leaving their highest internet speeds at 6down/1up (at least for now, from what i have read), whereas Verizon is much faster. I live in San Antonio (at&t's home base) so I can't get FIOS. I would much rather FIOS 15/2 than at&t's crappy 6/1 speeds.

even with channel bonding the bandwidth is only 150 mbps to the whole nod. even with this tech, its not something i would call future proof....

First of all, as mentioned above, it's not FTTH, It's FTTN...They also used dated fiber tech when implimenting giving very slow speeds (when compared to Vz's max speeds). Verizon also has far more home/business on fiber than at&t (at this point in time) and is rolling out new areas like crazy...I hope at&t fix thier speed issues though, I mean...Even cable is faster...
Dude i know for a fact they are dumbing down the Fiber because they offer DSL service at 6/1.... and at this moment they are offering that exact same speed for fiber... so im thinking that they are just waiting to see who comes on board and then bump up the speeds, which means i just have to wait to get it... but man this really sucks.... I have no idea how fast their network can be but i know they run fiber to the box and then cable to the rest of the house.

i dont know how at&t's ftth network is designed, can you show me how its designed before we go and throw out comments about how there dumbed down the network...
